A new study has the most intelligent member of the British Royal Family, and it is not the Queen.

According to Express, a new study has suggested that Meghan Markle is the 'most intelligent member of the British Royal Family'. The study, which was carried out by respectable education provider Oxford Royale, analyzed QS World University Rankings of the institutions where the royals attended, with quantifiable factors such as academic reputation and faculty-to-student ratio taken into consideration to find out the most brilliant candidate.

Meghan Markle's impressive academic result

According to the study's experts, Meghan Markle tops the list as the smartest royal at the present. Featuring on the list also include Princess Eugenie, Peter Phillips, and Zara Tindall.

Born on August 4, 1981, in Los Angeles, Meghan Markle worked as a TV actress before she met, dated, and married Prince Harry and became a royal in 2018. In 1999, Meghan attended Northwestern University in Illinois - one of the most venerable education institutions in the world, where she graduated in 2003 with a double degree in theater and international relations.

Founded in 1851, Northwestern University ranks 30th over 1,350 institutions on the QS World University Rankings list, making it among the most prestigious universities in the world. It places 61 slots ahead of the second-best institution attended by a royal in the survey: the University of St Andrews, where Prince William and Kate Middleton attended.

A representative of Oxford Royale told the Daily Express how Meghan got the top spot:

'Life as a royal isn’t always an easy job and involves a lot of dealing with extensive scrutiny and life in the public spotlight, and Meghan Markle’s academic strengths have equipped her perfectly for this role.'

They added that Meghan has applied her status as a royal to 'raise awareness over serious world issues', which in turn reflects her 'intelligence':

'While the Duke and Duchess of Sussex may have resigned from their roles as working royals, they have captured the interest and attention of the world, and Meghan’s desire to use her platform to raise awareness over serious world issues reflects her intelligence, analytical mind and educational pedigree.'

The representative continued praising the Duchess of Sussex for her 'refusal to remain silent on complex, controversial issues', saying:

'Meghan Markle is an unashamedly brilliant woman, and her refusal to remain silent on complex, controversial issues from racism and injustice to period poverty and the need for paid parental leave is a testament to her intelligence and academic pedigree.'

They added:

'Despite the fact that as the wife of Prince Harry, Meghan has married into a royal tradition of neutrality on key political issues (to preserve the stability of The Crown), the Duchess of Sussex has never let this prevent her from expressing her beliefs openly and articulately.'

Kate Middleton is the second cleverest royal

Placing behind Meghan on the list are Kate Middleton and Prince William, who attended the University of St Andrews and fell in love there. The Duchess of Cambridge is awarded as the second cleverest royal due to outperforming her husband in terms of A-level results.

William's cousin Princess Eugenie, who completed a bachelor's degree in history of art and English literature from Newcastle University, places fourth on the list. Capping up the top five is Princess Anne's son Peter Philips, who graduated from the University of Exeter with a degree in sports science.

Meanwhile, chart-topper Meghan's husband Prince Harry is notably absent from the list. It is no surprise, though, given that the Duke of Sussex never attended, let alone graduated from any university.
