Prince William and Princess Kate Middleton have sprung back into action after taking a brief holiday for the half-term period with their children. Now that they're back to the regular routine, they have begun the work toward making their new titles, the Prince and Princess of Wales, their own.
The following months leading up to the coronation of King Charles III will be very important for the Royal family, so what are the changes that Prince William and Princess Kate are planning to implement?
New roles and different approaches
People Magazine reports that Prince William and Kate Middleton seamlessly transitioned into their new roles as the Prince and Princess of Wales. This is primarily due to the mentorship William received from the late Queen Elizabeth II and the Royal couple's extensive experience with carrying out duties over the years.
With regards to Kate, she has already made strides as the Duchess of Cambridge, thus her established capabilities are certainly being put to use. Additionally, this is the first time in 25 years the title 'Princess of Wales' is being used by a Royal after Princess Diana, and Kate looks determined to live up to and exceed the weight behind the title.
Following the acceptance of their new titles, William and Kate visited Wales to establish a closer relationship with the nation and the people. After that, they made a trip to Ireland to lend their support to mental health initiatives focused on the youth of the nation. Additionally, Kate visited a maternity unit in Surrey as the Princess of Wales, shedding a spotlight on where her attention and support are going to be directed.
On the other hand, William has forged a stronger bond with his father and has enhanced his efforts toward measures that focus on combatting climate change. CNN reports that recently, the finalists of the Earthshot Prize were announced, an initiative started by Prince William to put focus on solutions for major environmental challenges. Five winners would receive £1 million each to implement their ideas for improving and helping the environment.
Breaking from traditions
One of the major ideas put forth by William and Kate is that they want to carry out their Royal duties in a way that's exclusive of the established traditions, and instead, take a modernized approach to better facilitate a relationship with the community as well as provide support in a more prominent way, reports The Telegraph.
it was reported last week that the Royal couple officially piloted their new model in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, and the model is aptly named titled Community Impact Day. Over three months prior to their visit, a collaboration between the local Two Ridings Community Foundation and the Royal Foundation raised £345,000, which was privately donated by the local organizations and will primarily lead to improving mental health facilities for the youth in the town.
Speaking about their new approach, Prince William said:
For Catherine and I, the legacy of today is bringing together and collaborating and showing what can be done when a community comes together. It is something we'd like to follow on and I hope can be represented more widely across the country.
It is apparent that both the Prince and Princess of Wales are clearly dedicated to ensuring that the official duties and visits of Royal family members are contributing to the community. Additionally, these measures create deeper links with the community and give an image of how the Royal couple will function as future Monarchs.
