His kid has spoken out after his 45-year-old father was flown to hospital after a horror crash.

Corey, the Top Gear star's son, claims his father is 'lucky to be alive' after the harrowing high-speed crash.

Before the tragedy, former England cricketer Freddie is reported to have been filming an episode for the successful BBC series at Dunsfold Park Aerodrome. According to the Mirror, he was apparently hurt while telling the BBC cameras his thoughts on the automobile for the show's review part, but his injuries were reported 'not life-threatening', according to sources.

Chris Harris, who co-hosts the show with the ex-cricketer and Paddy McGuinness, was also onsite at the Top Gear test track.

When his family got the news, the boy says his mother dashed to the former cricketer's hospital bed.

‘He's ok’, he told MailOnline. ‘I'm not sure what happened, but he is lucky to be alive’.

‘It was a pretty nasty crash. It is shocking. We are all shocked but just hope he's going to be OK.'

A source informed The Sun after the collision:

‘Freddie is in hospital after a crash on Top Gear. He was driving on the track as normal. He wasn't going at high speeds - it was just an accident that could happen to anyone.'

They continued:

‘His injuries are not life-threatening and he is receiving treatment. Filming has been postponed for now and all anyone cares about is Freddie recovering.'

Paddy, Chris, and Freddie are now filming the latest season of the BBC One program in preparation for its return to the small screen.

Freddie previously had a similar accident

This isn't Freddie's first time in a high-speed crash while shooting Top Gear, according to the Daily Star.

Back in 2020, the sports celebrity was badly injured when he slammed while racing at 124mph before losing control.

When he failed to hit the track, the 45-year-old was driving a Time Bandit, a motorized tricycle that allowed him to lay down on his front, head on with the road at York's Elvington Airfield.

Paddy McGuinness and Chris Harris, Top Gear camera crew and co-hosts, stared in terror as Freddie miscalculated the runway and spun off in a cloud of dust.

He was racing against co-hosts Chris Harris and Paddy McGuinness, who were in a Nissan GTR and a modified garden shed, respectively, in a drag race.

Flintoff may be seen in headcam footage racing onto a grassy area at the end of the airport near York.

‘I can't stop - I'm out of runway’, he screams to his co-stars in the horrifying footage.

Flintoff stated that he was 'absolutely fine' after his accident. He continued:

‘I go to great lengths to make sure I do well in Top Gear drag races but on this occasion I went a few lengths too far! It will look more ridiculous than dangerous when you see it on TV.’
