Queen Elizabeth II, who has long been known as a chocoholic, is particularly fond of classic British dark mint chocolates and usually eats them as a late-night snack.
According to former royal chef Darren McGrady, the Queen of England has a strong liking for sweet treats, particularly chocolate snacks. Normally, people would think that a Royal as Her Majesty would go for luxury, top-notch offerings that could cost an arm and a leg. However, contrary to popular belief, Her Majesty's favorite chocolate brands are not that extravagant and can be bought in bulk at any local supermarket. Appearing on ITV's This Morning, the famous chef said:
'The Queen loves chocolate. Anything dark chocolate - the darker the better.'
The Queen is fond of classic chocolate mint
The 60-year-old chef, who used to be the personal chef for the late Princess Diana from 1993 to 1997, revealed that the Monarch is very fond of classic British chocolate mint, which she would ‘indulges’ in late at night. Earlier this year during an engagement at Windsor Castle, eagle-eyed royal watchers were quick to notice that there was a box of Bendicks Bittermints - one of the most popular sweet treats for people from all walks of life. They can be purchased for between £3.50 and £5.00, available for pick-up in almost every supermarket in the UK, as noted by Express.

As the photo of the engagement spreads on Twitter, fans flocked to the comment section to share their excitement about the Queen's sweet tooth. One Twitter user commented: 'I can’t help being nosy and seeing that her Majesty is well supplied for chocolates there, including #fortnumandmason champagne truffles and #Bendicksmints.'
Another wrote: 'So nice to see, that her Majesty obviously loves spring and the Bendicks Mint Collection!'
Bendicks' official website describes their chocolate treat as 'a unique combination of contrasting, premium ingredients', which makes it 'the perfect finishing touch to any meal or entertainment occasion'. The chocolate, which is also 'vegan-friendly' as its website writes, is a balanced mix of intense mint fondant with 'indulgent, dark, 95 percent cocoa solids chocolate'.

Back to his talk, McGrady added that the Queen 'has little chocolate boxes' in her room so that she could eat them late at night. Previously, the chef, who had 11 years working for the Queen at Buckingham Palace, explained that the Queen is a big fan of chocolate and would choose 'anything put on the menu that had chocolate on'.
Aside from Bendicks Bittermints, another favorite chocolate of Her Majesty comes from luxury chocolate makers Charbonnel et Walker. This was confirmed by Adam Lee, the company's chief chocolatier, during his appearance on the ITV program Billion Pound Bond Street. Lee said:
'The Queen does have a list of favorite chocolates with us. But I’m not allowed to divulge that directly to you. However, I can just say that she has very floral tastes, which may become evident if we look at the chocolates a little bit later.'
According to Hello!, Charbonnel et Walker has remained the favorite chocolatier of many aristocratic and upper-class customers, such as the late Princess Diana, Princess Margaret, Wallis Simpson, Sir John Gielgud, Sir Alec Guinness, Lauren Bacall, and Noel Coward. The brand, which was founded in 1875, also prides itself as one of the few chocolate makers to be granted the honorable Royal Warrant, which allows them to display the Royal Coat of Arms next to their logo.
