We asked ChatGPT who will win the 2022/23 Premier League and this was the answer

The race to the much-coveted Premier League title remains unpredictable to all of us, but Chat GPT might know who will be this year's winner.

ChatGPT is a language model developed by OpenAI, a research organization dedicated to advancing artificial intelligence in a safe and beneficial way. First developed in 2019, this tool was first introduced to the public in June of 2020.

Why is ChatGPT so popular?

Since its release, ChatGPT has been employed by a wide range of individuals, organizations, and businesses. As one of the most advanced invention in the field of artificial intelligence, ChatGPT is capable of 'engaging in natural language conversations' and 'providing accurate and personalized responses' on a vast range of topics.

We have to admit, we were a bit skeptical about using an AI language model at first, but the hype around ChatGPT really piqued our interest. WeeTech Solutions claims that it's like having a virtual assistant that's available to you 24/7 and can answer any question you throw its way. To testify the statement, we decided to ask Chat GPT some questions about football - one of the most popular topics on the planet.

The current Premier League table

As we approach the end of the 2022-23 season, Arsenal and Manchester City appear to be the top title contenders, with Manchester United slipping down the rankings.

As the remaining games in this tightly contested table dwindle, the performance of each team as they approach the end of the season becomes more crucial. Of course, there's nothing predictable in the fiercest and most interesting league on the planet.

We asked ChatGPT who will win the 2022/23 Premier League and this was the answer David Price

Will Arsenal end their 24-year-title drought that has haunted all the Gunners since the invincible 2004 season, or will Pep Guardiola's Manchester City continue their incredible streak - having win fourth Premier League championship in five seasons?

To learn more about the potential winner of the 2022/2023 Premier League, we have chosen to consult ChatGPT, the highly talked about artificial intelligence.

A disappointing response

So we posed a straightforward question to ChatGPT: 'Who will win the 2022/2023 Premier League?'. Here's what it had to say.

'As an AI language model, I don't have the ability to predict the future or the outcomes of specific events. The Premier League 2023 is still in the future, and there are many variables that could influence the outcome of the competition, such as team performances, injuries, transfers, and many other factors. Therefore, it is impossible for me to predict with certainty which team will win the Premier League in 2023.'

It looks like the AI doesn't have the ability to update the calendar or any other information in real-time, and its knowledge only extends to before 2021. To know the exact reason behind ChatGPT's flaw, we asked it directly and it said:

'My knowledge cutoff is in September 2021, which means that I may not have the most up-to-date information on events, including the Premier League or any other sporting event, that have occurred after that time.'

Another attempt proves useless

We decided to take a step further and provide ChatGPT with real contenders for this year's premiership. All of the clubs mentioned in the question are big clubs in the league, and we were pretty sure that ChatGPT is aware of the teams' history and their likelihood to win a title.

So we asked: 'Who is the most popular team that is expected to win Premier League 2023? Arsenal, Man City, Newcastle, Man United, or Tottenham?'

The AI's answer was not very helpful either:

'As I mentioned earlier, it's impossible to predict with certainty which team will win the Premier League in 2023. However, based on the current state of the teams, past performance, and the expectations of the fans and experts, some teams may be considered more likely to win than others.'
We asked ChatGPT who will win the 2022/23 Premier League and this was the answer Matt McNulty - Manchester City

It did, however, point out that Manchester City - who's currently ranked second, is still a favorite for the premiership:

Among the teams you listed, Manchester City and Manchester United have traditionally been strong contenders for the Premier League title, with both teams having won the league several times in the past. In recent years, Manchester City has been particularly dominant, winning the league title in the 2020-2021 season and 2021-2022 season. However, other teams such as Arsenal, Tottenham, and Newcastle may also have the potential to compete for the title in the future.'

From its answers, it's fair to say that while ChatGPT strives for accuracy, its responses may not always be completely accurate or reliable. Also, ChatGPT's knowledge cutoff is 2021, which means that it may not have the most current information available.
