An early start toward success
Football was seemingly Henderson's calling from an early age as the player entered the Sunderland Academy at the age of eight, and a decade later, in 2008, he made his professional debut, reports Sports Unfold.
Then in 2009, he played for Coventry City through a six-month loan and returned to Sunderland after that. Henderson officially joined Liverpool in 2011, helping to lead the team to his first trophy, the League Cup, the very next year.
The footballer later became the captain of Liverpool, and proceeded to guide the team to the UEFA Champions League victory in 2019, FIFA Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup. Furthermore, 2020 marked the year when he facilitated Liverpool's first Premiere League title in 30 years. Liverpool won that season and Henderson received the FWA Footballer of the Year Award.
Who is he married to?
Henderson is married to his childhood sweetheart Rebecca Burnett. It is stated that the couple met when they were teenagers, and his wife frequently attends his matches. That being said, she notably keeps herself out of the spotlight, and Henderson keeps his family life private, thus not much is known about Burnett, reports The Sun.
It is further reported that the couple officially tied the knot in 2014, and they have two daughters together, Alex, Alba, and a son who was born in February 2020. During the birth of his second daughter, it is reported that Henderson rushed to be with Burnett and then drove back to Wembley to attend the FA Cup semi-finals.
Speaking about the situation, Liverpool manager Brendan Rogers said:
Jordan Henderson actually had to go back from the hotel - his partner had their second child during the night, so he had gone away, hadn't slept so much and travelled back again and put in a performance like he did tonight, a real captain's performance.
He added:
Some players maybe would have missed the game, but he said to me: 'Boss, as soon as the baby's out I'll be coming back!' There was a car waiting!
Possibility of skipping World Cup
Goal.com reports that Henderson's family might skip attending the World Cup altogether due to a traumatic experience they had at the Euro 2020 Final, where they got trapped in a crowed as a result of security lapses.
Speaking about the incident, Henderson said:
My family and friends have had a couple of experiences over the last couple of years, which has really shocked them and probably put them off going to future games. My wife and kids had to try and get in a side door (at Wembley) which they wouldn’t let them in at the beginning. And they were trapped.
He further noted:
My dad said that, after the Champions League final, that was him done. Some of my family got caught up in it which wasn’t ideal. A lot of the players’ families got caught up outside the stadium. I think it was pretty horrific.
