The King seems to have regretted a thing or two from his extravagant coronation weekend, and you'll never guess what it is.

King Charles’s coronation, which took place on the 6th of May, was a spectacle by itself. Being a coronation that happened 70 years after the previous one, it was indeed special. In fact, it was even deemed a historic coronation that Queen Camilla had a secret fitness routine right ahead of it, to look her best.

The coronation brought with it its share of confusion. From the late arrival of Prince William and Kate Middleton to certain royal family members not being present at the iconic event, so many things happened simultaneously. Hijacking the headlines that week especially was Prince Harry’s role during the coronation, which was close to none.

While for the most part things went smoothly for the King and Queen Consort, it was said that King Charles voiced out certain regrets about his special day. Here are the surprising regrets that King Charles had, as he was anointed as the new King of the United Kingdom.

The coronation

The coronation that took place in Westminster Abbey seemed like an otherwise successful event, till the King and the Queen Consort thanked the organisers. Amidst his words of gratitude, the King expressed one small regret he had regarding the coronation weekend. And no one would’ve even guessed what it would be.

To break it down, the coronation takes place in many parts. There was the actual coronation that happened in Westminster Abbey. Followed by a reception at Buckingham Palace with dignitaries from all around the world. And a star-studded coronation concert at the iconic Windsor Castle that happened a day after the official coronation ceremony, on its expansive east lawn. The King, who was otherwise happy with the turn of events, had one small regret about the coronation concert, and here’s what it is.

The regret

An official called Neil Walter, who was in charge of parking for the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead expressed what the king regretted during the coronation weekend. As per Hello! Magazine, he said that the King didn’t like the fact that he was seated so far off from the stage, as he could not see what was happening during the concert. He said the following.

“He said next time he would like to be closer – or bring his binoculars.”

The concert saw some big names in music such as Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, Take That, Andrea Bocelli, and Olly Murs, among other musical stars. And it looks like the king wanted a better view of the performers, who were all said to have performed for ‘free’, in honor of the king.

The coronation concert

The coronation concert was one of the biggest musical blowout events that has taken place in the royal family. Marking King Charles’s ascension to the throne, the royals spared no expense when it came to the concert in Windsor Castle.

With BBC producing and broadcasting the show, it was possibly 2023’s most-awaited musical concert. The concert saw 20000 members of the public and was hosted by the actor, Hugh Bonneville.

The legendary event saw big names from around the world. The immediate family of the King was present as well. With Prince William, Kate, Prince George, and Princess Charlotte, the royal event only saw William’s family, as Harry left for the US, soon after.

The Princess Royal’s children, Zara and Peter, were present with their spouses. The invitation was also extended to the Duke and Duchess of York, along with the King’s nieces Princess Eugenie and Beatrice, along with their husbands. And of course, the King’s youngest brother, the Duke of Edinburgh, and his entire family were also some of the esteemed guests.
