Which Netflix series will cause a sensation in 2022? With “The Crown”, “Bridgerton” and “Stranger Things”, the platform has some big surprises in store for next year.

After the 2021 launch of the sexy “Bridgerton”, in which actor Regé-Jean Page made a splash, or the first part of season 5 of “Money Heist”, which led to the death of one of the heroes, which series will be a sensation in 2022 on Netflix? If you want to mark down dates in your diary, the platform has already revealed some details about its most anticipated 2022 dramas, including announcements at its big “Tudum” event on Saturday 25 September. So, Netflix has announced that season 5 of “The Crown” will air in November 2022. We will thus have to be patient to discover Imelda Staunton as Queen Elizabeth II and Elizabeth Debicki as Princess Diana, alongside Khalid Abdalla, chosen to play Dodi Al-Fayed in this season 5.

“Vikings: Valhalla” and “The Sandman”, two big new Netflix series in 2022

As for new releases, all eyes will be on “Vikings: Valhalla”, the spin-off that will introduce a whole new generation of warriors. But also on “The Sandman”, a series adapted from the novel by Neil Gaiman, to whom we owe in particular “American Gods” and “Good Omens” on Amazon Prime Video, with a large cast, including Gwendoline Christie and Charles Dance from “Game of Thrones”, and Jenna Coleman (“Doctor Who”).

Also note that Shonda Rhimes, the successful creator of “Grey's Anatomy” and “Bridgerton”, is returning to the platform with a new series: “Inventing Anna”. It tells the story of a journalist interested in the Anna Delvey affair, the true story of a woman who posed as a rich German heiress to the New York elite. Based on a New York Magazine article, the series will be released in February 2022.

“Bridgerton”, “Stranger Things”... Which Netflix series will return in 2022?

Fans of “Bridgerton” will meet up with the gang again in 2022 in season 2, focusing on the character of Anthony. Netflix has unveiled the very first images of these episodes, which should pique your curiosity and help you forget that Regé-Jean Page will not be part of the show, even though he left some ambiguity about his participation. Netflix will also air season 4 of “Stranger Things”, whose new trailer will help you forget that so much time has passed since the previous series, and “Ozark” with Jason Bateman, which will mark the series' farewell in 2022. Season 3 of “Umbrella Academy”, for which filming is finally complete, is also expected. Many other fan-favourite series are expected to return as well, including season 4 of “Virgin River”, season 2 of “Never Have I Ever”, and season 6 of “Outlander”, which Caitriona Balfe has promised will “break the hearts” of fans.
