Will Gorka Marquez return to Strictly next year? Here's what he has to say

Gorka Marquez’s dance skills need no introduction. The Spanish pro dancer has set the Strictly Come Dancing stage on fire, time and again, with the audience as witness to his expertise in dancing. From 2016 to 2023, he has repeatedly proven his dance skills, by being a regular on Strictly Come.

And recently, Gorka Marquez gave his fans a sneak peek into what is in store for him with regard to his career on Strictly Come Dancing. Here’s what he said.

Before jumping into his future with the BBC One show, let’s dive into how this season went for Marquez. The cast of Strictly Come Dancing has been through a lot this season. From Amy Dowden’s health diagnosis and treatment to Angela Scanlon’s tearful goodbye, so much has happened in the 2023 season of the show.

This season, Gorka Marquez was partnered with Nikita Kanda, and during their short stint on the show, the duo really broke out some great moves. Despite the Strictly Come dance partners list leaking beforehand, fans were quite excited and surprised to see the duo together. And now, with the 2023 season all wrapped up, Gorka addressed some queries thrown his way about his future with the reality show. This is what happened.

Gorka Marquez’s future with Strictly Come

Gorka Marquez recently did a round of the ‘Ask me anything’ Q&A on Instagram, and he was flooded with all kinds of questions thrown at him by fans. The Spanish professional dancer got candid about everything, from his personal life to his future with the BBC One show.

When one of his followers threw in the question saying:

“Are you returning to Strictly Come Dancing next year as a professional dancer Gorka?”

Gorka took to his social media to address the speculation surrounding his return to the reality show.

Gorka Marquez responds

As per Entertainment Daily, Gorka replied to the question with the following response.

“I get asked this a lot! I hope so. It’s not my decision but I would love to. It’s the best show on TV and I’m grateful to have the chance to be a small part of it.”

Despite leaving very early on in the show this year around, Gorka has enjoyed immense success as a dancer on Strictly Come, the previous year. Gorka, who was also facing a personal situation at the time of his stint with Strictly Come, opened up about his struggles of being on stage, this year around. Opening up on Gemma and Gorka: Life Behind the Lens, he said the following about how he felt during the show.

“It’s quite heart-breaking, you know, to have to leave again a few days after Gemma gives birth and not be at home. In my head, it makes me think I want to quit and just be at home for the next three months. But at the same time, I need to do my job and work.”

During his Q&A, Gorka also spilled the beans about his personal favorite contestants, and who he was vouching for this season. As we all know, Ellie Leach emerged as this season’s winner, but Gorka said the following about what he thought of how this season panned out winner.

“Any of them. I think the three couples deserved it in their own way. But beyond dance the 3 are amazing people. So I was happy with the outcome. The only real winners are dance and the amazing final we all witnessed that night.”
