The Strictly Come Dancing professional said that pregnancy has led to a serious health condition that made ‘walking, sitting and driving’ difficult.

Beloved TV show Strictly Come Dancing has faced tumultuous months recently. Sherlock star Amanda Abbington just left the competition half-way through after rumors of a fallout with her dance partner, while Waterloo Road's Adam Thomas also said goodby to the audience due to a mystery issue. Amidst this chaos, another alumni of Strictly Come Dancing is going through a difficult time.

Oti Mabuse, the exceptionally talented Latin American and ballroom dancer, has recently taken center stage once again, sharing her personal journey from her surprising exit from the beloved dance show Strictly Come Dancing to her exciting new ventures and the challenges and joys of impending motherhood.

Battle with painful pregnancy condition

Pregnancy is a remarkable and transformative journey for expectant mothers, filled with anticipation and excitement. However, it can also bring its share of challenges and discomforts. Oti Mabuse, who is currently expecting her first child with her partner Marius Lepure, recently shared a candid insight into her pregnancy experience, revealing that she is grappling with Symphysis Pubis Dysfunction (SPD), a condition that can cause stiffness in the pelvic joints.

SPD, while not impacting the unborn baby, can be a source of pain and discomfort for the mother. Oti took to her Instagram page to open up about how this condition had affected her as she resumed her fitness routine. She candidly expressed, 'I completely fell off the bandwagon with my fitness, and I immediately could feel it when I went back.'

She added:

'My core strength was not what it was, my balance was off and my ability to hold certain positions was gone. The pain started really slow but at night while sleeping would intensify (I’m not wearing a belt yet but as weeks go on I definitely will).'

Why did Oti Mabuse leave Strictly Come Dancing?

Oti's decision to leave Strictly last year, after an impressive seven-year stint, left fans and audiences stunned. The two-time winner of the show with celebrity partners Kevin Fletcher and Bill Bailey decided to move on from the show that catapulted her into the limelight. On a recent appearance on the All Change podcast, Oti offered a candid look into the struggles she faced behind the scenes of Strictly.

Her decision was not made lightly, and she expressed her deep appreciation for the unwavering support of her husband, Marius Lepure, who stood by her side during the challenging moments. Oti shared that Marius had been her rock, witnessing her difficult days and the emotional toll that the show could take.

What made her departure even more perplexing to fans was the undeniable love the nation has for Strictly. It's a show that has captured the hearts of countless viewers, and Oti acknowledged the show's immense popularity, saying, 'When you come from there, you are with that group, then when you decide you're going to leave it's like: 'What? What do you mean?'

But Oti's decision was motivated by a strong desire to explore new opportunities that ignited her passion. Since her exit from Strictly, she has embraced various exciting roles. Notably, she has joined the panel of judges on Dancing on Ice. Oti has also served as a panelist on The Masked Dancer, adding her unique perspective to the show's guessing game.
