Adele says she’s ‘taking a break from music’ to pursue English Literature degree

Fans will be regretting it as Adele recently announces her intention of swapping the stage for educational pursuits in the near future.

In the 21st century, Adele is most recognized for her enormous success as a singer and vocalist, but few people are aware of her academic background. But now, the whole world would be noticed as the Hello singer had her fan's jaws on the ground when she announced her music industry resume for educational purposes.

When will Adele stop singing?

After her residency in Las Vegas, Adele has said she will take time off from music to pursue a degree in English literature, reports The Independent.

The singer, who on Wednesday released the music video for her new song I Drink Wine, expressed regret over not continuing her education beyond high school.

According to Metro, she was previously a student at BRIT school from 2003 to 2006. BRIT is a British performing and creative arts school, aiming at providing education and vocational training in various realms of arts.

Adele, 34, revealed during a fan Q&A in Los Angeles that she will finish a course in order to receive the degree. She had chosen to cease performing music in 2025 in order to obtain a degree in English literature.

The British singer declared that going to college had always been in her cards because she had always wanted to get a degree.

According to Standard, Adele once expressed her utter desire to attain higher education in English Literature. The Brit and Grammy-winner surprised fans by revealing she might have been an English Lit teacher if she had not been a singer.

'After Vegas I really want to get a degree in English Literature. If I hadn't made it in my singing, I think I would definitely be a teacher. I think I'd be an English Lit teacher.'

The Set Fire To The Rain singer said she wished she 'had gone to university and had that experience':

'I definitely feel like I use my passion of English lit in what I do. But even though it's not like I'd go on to get a job from my degree, I wish I had gone to university, I wish I'd had that experience.'

However, Adele clarifies that she 'won't go to a university':

'I won't go to a university, I'll do it online and with a tutor, but that's my plan for 2025. It's just to get the qualifications.’

When will Adele start Las Vegas residency?

After abruptly canceling the gigs in January, Adele will start her residency in Las Vegas in November.

Months after canceling a show with only 24 hours' notice and leaving fans thousands of pounds out of pocket, the singer revealed the new dates in July.

According to the BBC, the singer confirmed the performance will begin in November on Instagram in July after new dates for the gig were leaked. She praised fans for their 'patience' and said that priority will be given to those who already had tickets.

Alongside a show poster, she added:

'Words can't explain how ecstatic I am to finally be able to announce these rescheduled shows. I truly was heartbroken to have to cancel them. But after what feels like an eternity of figuring out logistics for the show that I really want to deliver, and knowing it can happen, I'm more excited than ever!'

The Grammy winner admitted that for some fans, it was 'a horrible decision':

'Now I know for some of you it was a horrible decision on my part, and I will always be sorry for that, but I promise you it was the right one.'

The singer continued:

'To be with you in such an intimate space every week has been what I've most been looking forward to and I'm going to give you the absolute best of me.'

'Thank you for your patience, I love you’ Adele said in an emotional moment.

At the same time, Adele, who is in a romantic relationship with sports agent Rich Paul, looked incredibly stunning in her latest music video, which featured her wistfully floating down a river sipping rosé as shirtless men splashed in the water all around her.

The song is from Adele's most recent album, 30, which was made available at 00:00 on November 19, 2021.
