Adele spills all on her decision not to return to live in the UK

Adele has opened up about the true motivation behind her continued residence in Los Angeles and hesitation to return to her roots and live in the UK.

Adele, 35, made the move across the Atlantic in 2016, citing financial reasons initially. However, the Grammy-winning artist recently disclosed to The Hollywood Reporter that it's not just about the money. Adele disclosed, "I get really bad seasonal depression, so the weather is good for me. It is strange sometimes because I’m very British." It seems the sunny California weather has a positive impact on her well-being, which undoubtedly has better weather than back home in Blighty.

Moreover, Adele revealed that the social scene in Los Angeles has contributed to her attachment to the city. She said, "Because it’s a bit harder for me to go out nowadays, what I love the most about L.A. is everyone goes to each other’s houses. I like that." This insight into her personal life sheds light on the challenges she faces as a public figure and how the laid-back, house-centric lifestyle in Los Angeles appeals to her, away from the prying eyes of the Paparazzi.

In a rare glimpse into her personal life, Adele touched upon her relationship with Rich Paul, 41, stating, "Rich and I have always known everything about each other since the day we got together." However, she humorously revealed a pet peeve, mentioning how he listens to her music, saying, "Richard does [listen to my music], it drives me insane."

Acting ambitions

Intriguingly, Adele, who has undergone a stunning transformation recently, expressed her interest in venturing into acting, sharing that there is a specific role she covets. However, the script for the desired movie is yet to be written by the director she has in mind. She expressed, "I bug him every now and then about it, but he’s just not there yet. But that’s the only role I ever want, because I think I’d nail it."

Previously, Adele, who has finally explained how to pronounce her name properly, told British Vogue about her significant real estate investments in Los Angeles, justifying her decision to stay in the city. She compared the value she could afford in the U.S. to the exorbitant prices in London, saying, "The kind of house I have in LA I could never afford in London. Ever."

Adele's multi-million mansion

Her luxurious eight-bedroom, 12-bathroom mansion, once owned by Sylvester Stallone, became the centrepiece of her Californian lifestyle. Adele, who purchased the estate for a staggering $37.7 million, embarked on a massive renovation project to personalise the property. An interesting tidbit from the acquisition was Adele's insistence on keeping a statue of Sylvester Stallone's iconic character, Rocky, overlooking the outdoor pool, a detail that almost derailed the deal.

Adele's decision to remain in Los Angeles is not solely driven by financial considerations; rather, it encompasses a combination of favourable weather, a relaxed social atmosphere, and the allure of a Hollywood dream waiting to unfold. As she continues to make waves in both the music and, potentially, the acting industry, Adele's California dream seems destined to persist.
