Ilkay Gundogan’s wife Sara Arfaoui has recently caused outrage as she compared restaurants in London and Manchester, calling them 'horrible'.

According to The Sun, Sara Arfaoui, the wife of Manchester City captain Ilkay Gundogan, has come under fire after labeling the restaurant scene in Manchester as 'horrible'.

Earlier this year, Sara walked down the aisle with the German captain of Manchester City. The pair traveled to Italy only days before the team claimed yet another Premier League championship - their fourth in the last five seasons. Gundogan has been an important part of Pep Guardiola's side for several seasons, but the Italian model's outburst will probably annoy him.

Sarah blasted Manchester's restaurants 'horrible'

Taking to social media, Sara went into depth about her food troubles, alleging that there is a scarcity of fresh food and places just solely aimed at generating money.

As a result, the wife of Ilkay Gundogan elicited an internet outcry after calling Manchester's restaurant scene ‘awful.’ In particular, she answered when being asked what her ideal restaurant in the city was:

‘Sorry, I’m sad to be honest but nothing. I tried so bad to find a good restaurant but horrible food everywhere.’

The Italian model continued, saying she 'can't find real Italian' or just 'fresh food':

‘Can’t find real Italian or good sushi or just fresh food . . . everywhere frozen. Restaurants here are focused on making money with drinks and shots like nightclubs - not quality food. Maybe in London but in Manchester, nothing. I’m sorry.’

‘So because we are successful people we can’t give an honest opinion? I tried all the best restaurants here but for me, it’s a no. I can’t lie.’, she responded.

The model gushed that while Manchester is a great city, its restaurants are not good:

‘Unfortunately, I’m used to Italy so you can imagine it’s hard to compare. It’s a great city, great people but not for restaurants.’

According to the Mirror, celebrated food critic Jay Rayner called Sara's opinion a 'ludicrous point of view':

‘This is a ludicrous point of view. Manchester’s packed full of brilliant, independent restaurants. It’s an absolute gem of a place to eat and comments like this during difficult economic times are not helpful to businesses struggling to make ends meet.’

Angel Di Maria's wife had a similar problem

Fans of the other team in Manchester will not be surprised by this opinion of criticism because Angel Di Maria's wife has made similar accusations. Although the Argentine cost the United team a lot of money when he was signed in 2014, he only stayed for one season before leaving for Paris Saint-Germain.

Di Maria lived in England for a year with his wife, Jorgelina Cardoso, who subsequently claimed she despised city life:

‘It was always horrible! We came home and I said: ‘If you’re ever transferred, make sure it’s anywhere in the world but England.'

When the public wanted to know the reasons for her hatred, she quickly made a list with the food that was referred to before:

‘I didn’t like it at all… I can tell you. People are all weird. You walk around and you don’t know if they’re going to kill you. The food is disgusting. The women look like porcelain’.

She continued:

‘Angel and I were in Madrid, with the best team in the world, perfect food, perfect weather, everything was perfect. And then came United’s proposal…’
