Name-change documents filed in Texas show that Elon Musk, the billionaire Tesla founder, has a set of secret twins by one of his executives. That makes the count of his children total nine.
In recent years, Elon Musk has been largely known as the richest man on the planet, having founded Tesla Motors and SpaceX. The South African-born entrepreneur became a multimillionaire in his late 20s before continuously bolstering his position as a leader in innovations and space explorations. He went into history in 2012 with SpaceX when the company launched its Falcon 9 rocket into space. The event marked the first time a private company had sent a spacecraft to the International Space Station.
Aside from his achievements, Musk also makes headlines with his complicated relationships and multiple divorces. As the news of his alleged twins has been spreading like wildfire, let's take a look back at Musk's rollercoaster love life and how he has reportedly gone to father nine children so far.
Musk has nine kids with three women
According to Vanity Fair, Musk's first marriage was to Justine Musk, a Canadian author, in 2000. The former couple shared five children during their romance, twins in 2004 and then triplets in 2006. That number could have been six had their first child, who was born in 2002, not died of SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome) at 10 weeks old. Musk and Wilson's romance only lasted 6 years after the couple divorced in 2008.
Musk's twins with his first wife are Vivian and Griffin, while the triplets go by the name of Kai, Saxon, and Damian. Despite having a super famous father, they've all been leading a low-profile life and staying out of the limelight, as reported by Page Six.
Last month, Musk's eldest child, Vivian, was at the center of attention after she came out as transgender and filed paperwork to change her first name, to reflect her gender, and her last name. Her court document stated that she ‘no longer live with or wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape or form.'
After whirlwind romances with Westworld star Talulah Riley and Aquaman actress Amber Heard, Musk began dating singer Grimes (aka Claire Boucher) in 2018. She gave birth to their son, X AE A-XII, or X in May 2020, and daughter, Y, who was born via surrogate in December 2021.
Musk's relationship with Grimes is extremely complicated, with the couple splitting and rekindling repeatedly. In September of last year, before their second child was born, Musk told Page Six:
'We are semi-separated but still love each other, see each other frequently, and are on great terms.'
Who is the mother of Musk's reported twins?
In the past few days, it has emerged Elon Musk has reportedly had twins with Shivon Zilis, director of operations and special projects at one of his companies, Neurolink. The Yale University alumnus was a project director at Tesla between 2017 and 2019. Zilis is currently a board member of OpenAI, an AI research organization that seeks to utilize artificial intelligence to better human life.
While Musk and Zilis have never made any public statement to confirm their romance, Zilis once wrote about Musk on Twitter back in 2020:
'No one’s perfect but I’ve never met anyone who goes through more personal pain to fight for an inspiring future for humanity — and has done so tirelessly for decades. Everyone’s entitled to their opinion but mine is that there’s no one I respect and admire more.'
According to SkyNews, Musk and Zilis recently filed two petitions in state court in Texas to change their children’s names to 'have their father’s last name and contain their mother’s last name as part of their middle name.' The Texas court approved the petitions in May, one month after the couple's filing. Documents of the name-change files suggest that it's highly likely Musk and Zilis have had children together.
SkyNews writes Musk's reported twins were born in November 2021, only weeks before Grimes gave birth to their second child, Y, via surrogate. After the news flooded every social network, Musk tweeted, stating the importance of 'procreating':
'Doing my best to help the underpopulation crisis. A collapsing birth rate is the biggest danger civilization faces by far.'
Neither Musk nor Zilis has made any public statement about their alleged children, however. And while rumors are still spreading, the alleged twins' names are yet to be determined.
