A multi-faceted career

Dame Prue began her career by catering for high-profile business lunches and ultimately built it up to a point where she could open her own restaurant, reports The Sun. Following her success, in 1974 she created Leith's School of Food and Wine which became an award-winning cookery school, and she sold it 20 years later.

The world-renowned chef is also a good friend of Dame Mary Berry, and The Sun further reports that she intended to pay tribute to her when she entered GBBO as a judge in 2017, but the producers of the show reportedly didn't allow this.

Additionally, Dame Prue has written numerous books as well, including non-fiction cookbooks, and fiction entries as well. Her fiction books include Food of Love and The Gardener, and these books primarily explore her passion for cooking. The former is considered one of her most popular books.

Dame Prue is known to have a liking for vivid colors and her former home carried that style, with the living rooms painted bright yellow and curtains that reflect the same color. It goes without saying that the kitchen was the most impressive part of the house, reports HELLO! Magazine.

With ample enough space and an island unit that features an oven, complemented by cabinets and shelves that are lined beside, the kitchen was gastronome's dream space.

New beginnings

Throughout the ten years of her relationship, Dame Prue and her husband Playfair lived separately, until they finally invested in a home together in 2021. After the sale of her old abode, it was reported that she was looking for something that was completely different.

The celebrity chef took to Instagram to showcase her new home, particularly the kitchen which maintains her love for bright and vivid colors. Her new kitchen features a much bigger island unit in bright yellow, with a cream-colored worktop and matching shelves, reports HELLO! Magazine.

She also shared a photo of her living room which featured a leather armchair in cream color and in the background an orange-colored wall with abstract artwork is seen. She noted that she was lucky to have a husband who shared the same passion for vivid colors just as her.

On Instagram Dame Prue said:

For years, and as you'd expect, the kitchen has been at the heart of my home. Thankfully the talented team at Omega kitchens created a dream kitchen complete with a bright yellow Island... a real statement. All finished off with really great products from @miele_gb. Creating this dream home has been so exciting. From a blank page to this.
