The most expensive English player of all time has his own way when it comes to indulging after a match, but this 'monster meal' won't be appealing to many of us.
Jack Grealish is an English professional footballer who plays as a winger for Manchester City and the England national team. Given Grealish's brilliant form this season, many people have wondered what he eats after every game to maintain such an impressive physique.
Inside Jack Grealish's 'monster' meal after playing
This season, the midfielder has played an integral part in Pep Guardiola's strategy, but his brilliant form may have nothing to do with his eating routines.
After a game, it is not uncommon for players to enjoy a cheat meal, and Grealish is no exception. According to the Mirror, the Premier League star has admitted he has the same meal after every football game, ordering the same Chinese takeaway every time from a well-known place called Wing's. Grealish's apartment is just a stone's throw away from the Chinese in the centre of Manchester.
Players nowadays are in peak condition, with their diets often monitored and catered for. Still, Grealish certainly takes the opportunity to binge out and indulges in his favorite Chinese takeaway. He spends £53.50 on his ideal takeaway combination, which includes a Singapore chow mein, egg fried rice, salt and pepper chips, salt and pepper prawns, and curry sauce. The star told the Sun:
'Yeah, I love Chinese, man. After every game I get one. I go to Wing’s in Manchester. I usually get a takeaway. I have Singapore chow mein, I have egged fried rice, I have salt and pepper chips, I have salt and pepper prawns and then curry sauce. I then mix it all in and have a big fee for all.'
The City man earns a weekly salary of £270,000, so the order won't be too expensive for him. Additionally, Grealish recently signed a lucrative deal with Puma which is worth more than what most of his England teammates receive. He will be making £10 million per year from his Puma contract, after switching from Nike.
The secret behind Grealish's performance
Despite having a large meal, Grealish claims he is currently in his best shape and form ever while playing for City and under Pep Guardiola. He believes he is one of the key players in the team and has gained the manager's trust to perform well in important games:
'I feel I am in the best form, especially since I moved to City. At the moment, I just feel a bit like I did when I was at Aston Villa. I feel like one of the main players.'
Speaking to the Daily Star, Grealish credits his performance to Pep Guardiola, who has utilized his potentials:
'He (Guardiola) is trusting me in big games. And I do feel I have repaid him, played my part, done well. And I think that is why he is keeping me in the team. We are winning a lot of games, especially at club level, and I’m getting goals and assists, and helping the team in important matches.'
Grealish has proved he's no flop
Grealish's performances at Aston Villa in the Premier League caught the attention of Manchester City, who signed him for a British record transfer fee of £100 million in August 2021. Since joining City, Grealish has had to adapt to Pep Guardiola's unique footballing philosophy. In his first season, he was not a guaranteed starter and struggled to make an impact in some games.
However, his understanding of Guardiola's system has improved in the second campaign, and he has become one of the boss' go-to men. In the 2022-23 season, Grealish has been a key player for Manchester City, playing 36 times in all competitions, just three fewer appearances than he managed in the entirety of the previous campaign.
Grealish's influence on City's style this season is undeniable. He was named the February Etihad Player of the Month and hasn't missed a single Premier League game since the end of the World Cup, helping City to record nine wins in 13 games.
