Abdul, an electronics engineer from London

Abdul, the second of three children growing up in Saudi Arabia with Pakistani parents, is the one who got the blame for tearing apart electrical items around the house. But all's well that ends well, and he is currently an electronics engineer with offices in London and Cambridge.

A keen salsa dancer, who admits to being a space nerd, shares that his passion for baking developed when he and his graduate colleagues cooked for each other to freshen up their everyday coffee breaks. He integrates his precision reasoning into the chemistry of making cakes.

One of his go-to flavors is matcha.

Carole, a supermarket cashier

Carole grew up in the West Country and currently resides on a Dorset hillside with her husband, Michael. Carole applies the creativity she utilizes in her garden to her baking, making bright and myriad bakes inspired by her love of horticulture. She has now honed her talents, making use of YouTube to educate herself on the finer points of decorating.

Fruity and bold flavors are her go-to flavors.

Dawn, an IT Manager

Living with her spouse Trevor, the eldest of three children has three offspring, two stepchildren, and four grandchildren. The self-described artist both inside and outside the kitchen, absolutely loves the challenge of an illusion cake (the more impossible-sounding, the better), preferring quirky and elaborate designs that entitle her to exhibit her artistic skills. Her stable hand and attentiveness to detail make her proud, especially when it comes to the lace patterns on biscuits.

Lemon, salted caramel and anything nutty is her favorite tastes.

James, a nuclear scientist

James was born and raised in Glasgow's east end and resettled to England after university. He calls himself a board game nerd and is into horror movies from the 1970s and 1980s. The way he bakes is like a mirror to his love of music. His style has improved substantially from his early days of burning pancakes in his mother's kitchen. He respects the specialized aspects of baking, but he is himself the most when he personalized his cakes with his distinctive ‘child-friendly horror’ style and charming decorating.

Autumnal flavors like mixed spice, apples, and caramel are his dearest.

Maisam, a student and sales assistant

Maisam, who hails from Libya, has resided in the United Kingdom since she was nine years old. She is fluent in five languages and hopes to excel in seven by the time she is 20. Maisam is an imaginative person who appreciates capturing still-lifes and the environment around her. She has stuck to baking since she was around 13 years old, and she enjoys the science involved in getting a bake just right, which needs frequent trials and until it is ideal.

Her favorite flavors are influenced by her Mediterranean heritage. They are the acidity of olives, the sweetness of dates, and the nuttiness of sesame seeds.

Other contestants include Janusz, 34, a personal assistant to the head teacher; Kevin, 33, a music teacher; Maxy, 29, architectural assistant; Rebs, 23, a master's student; Sandro, 30, a full-time nanny; Syabira, 32, a research associate; and Will, 45, former charity director.
