The Great British Bake Off 2022: Where is it filmed?

It is the first time since 2019 that the participants of The Great British Bake Off can practice filming for season 13 without any limitations. The show has come back to Channel 4 and its original place in Berkshire after 3 years since 2019.

The Covid-19 epidemic had a big impact on filming for seasons 11 and 12, but the recent season has witnessed a welcome return to its normal process. Twelve new bakers have come to the Bake Off tent to put their skills to the test with tough technicals, slick signatures, and spectacular showstoppers.

But where is The Great British Bake Off shot, can you join the set, and when will the new season be on TV? This is all you need to know.

Where is The Great British Bake Off filmed?

The 13th season of The Great British Bake Off was recorded on the grounds of Welford Park in Berkshire, under the famous white tent. Welford Park is a rural estate, in which the big building at the center of the park was erected in the mid-17th century.

From 2014 until 2019, the primary location of Bake Off was Welford Park. However, the whole set was relocated to Down Hall in Essex to fulfill Covid-19 constraints. Because participants and staff were not required to shoot in a bubble, production has come back to Welford Park. Despite not filming under restrictions, a representative shared to The Mirror that protocols were still ‘in place to keep everyone safe’.

Fashion shoots for magazines like Vogue and Harper's Bazaar, as well as music videos, have also taken place at Welford Park.

Previous Bake Off shooting venues took place in Fulham Palace and London; Valentines Mansion and Redbridge; Harptree Court and Somerset for season one, season two, and season three and four respectively.

Can you come to Welford Park?

Welford Park is a private estate that is closed to the public for the majority of the year. However, the grounds have been available to the public for almost four weeks each year to witness the snowdrops in bloom for almost 50 years. People can visit the area every Wednesday and Sunday from 1 February to 5 March 2023. Visitors can park their vehicles near the grounds for free, however, there is an entry charge of £12 per adult and £4.50 per kid.

In traditional Bake Off style, the event will include a tent offering handcrafted cakes, hot beverages, homemade soup, and a variety of light meals.

How long does The Great British Bake Off take to film?

From April through June, The Great British Bake Off is recorded for ten weeks. It can sometimes take up to 16 hours per day for competitors to shoot. The show is exclusively recorded on weekends, with each episode taking two days to complete. This means that candidates can do their regular jobs while participating in the show.

According to the Insider, Tom Hetherington, who was a season eight participant, said:

‘It takes quite a long time to film, and I don’t think everyone appreciates how long it takes, but it becomes very exhausting and very stressful.’

When does The Great British Bake Off air on television?

Season 13 of Bake Off premiered on Channel 4 on Tuesday, September 13 at 8 in the evening, and new episodes will run every week at the same time.
