Jill Scott didn't believe she would win
According to the Express, the former Manchester City and England player admitted before entering the jungle that there was ‘no way’ she would make it to the final, but the crowd adored her for her no-nonsense demeanor, humility, optimism, and sense of humor.
After learning the news, Scott exclaimed to hosts Ant Mcpartlin and Declan Donnelly:
‘I just can't believe it. Honestly, I think I will owe my grandma a lot of money for the 12 million votes she's done.'
The former football star credited the whole 'big team':
‘We were one big team, I don't think there should be one winner, we couldn't have got through it without all of us. I know that it was controversial for me to come here, I know some people said people in your position shouldn’t put themselves in embarrassing situations. But we’re all human and we all put ourselves in it’.
She added that she was 'totally herself' throughout the program:
‘I just went in absolutely clear that I was going to be totally myself as if their cameras weren’t on and that’s what I did. And that is what I’m like in private!’
According to the Mirror, in the final vote of I'm A Celeb, Scott prevailed, with 57.7% of the popular vote over Hollyoaks star Owen Warner's 42.3%.
Matt Hancock, the former health secretary, was ousted from the competition after receiving only 21.7% of the national referendum in the first round, while Warner and Scott received 31% and 47.3%, respectively. The two competed on Sunday night.

During her illustrious 18-year playing career, Scott, 35, played for Sunderland, Everton, Manchester City, and Aston Villa in addition to appearing 161 times for England between 2006 and 2022. Before hanging up her boots, the midfielder capped off her career by helping the Lionesses won Euro 2022 last summer. Scott came on in the 2-1 victory against Germany in the final at Wembley.
According to Goal, Scott had a distinguished playing career that included 161 Lionesses appearances, 27 goals, a Women's Super League championship and four women's FA Cups.

After the triumph of the Euros this summer, she came back and wrote in an interview with the Players' Tribune:
‘I may be saying my goodbyes to football, but we're going to make this a celebration. No sad faces!! We've had too much fun for any tears’.
