It has been a heartbreaking week for Emmerdale fans as another veteran actor from the soap opera just passed away.

The entertainment industry mourns yet another loss as news broke of the passing of esteemed actor Peter Martin, known for his roles in the hit show The Royle Family and the popular TV soap Emmerdale. With a career spanning film, television, and stage, Peter Martin's talent and contributions to the entertainment world will be remembered fondly.

Tributes paid to legendary actor

Peter Martin's passing has left a void in the entertainment industry, with colleagues and fans paying tribute to the talented actor.

Emmerdale's official Twitter account paid tribute to Martin, saying: 'We're saddened to hear that Peter Martin, who played the role of Len Reynolds between 2001 and 2007, has passed away at the age of 82. Our thoughts are with Peter's family and friends at this time.'

Dave Shann wrote: 'My friend, drinking partner, fishing buddy past away on Wednesday morning, very sad, many of you will know him from TV, RIP Peter Martin, we had some great laughs.'

Paul Willam Sykes said: 'My condolences to his friends and family. R. I. P. Peter it was nice to share some laughter with you.'

Peter Martin's memorable career

Peter Martin, born in December 1941, hailed from a family in Hull. However, due to the heavy bombing during that time, his mother gave birth to him in Gainsborough, Lincolnshire.

According to Manchester Evening News, Martin's love for acting blossomed over the years, leading him to pursue a diverse career on stage, film, and television. Martin's talent and versatility allowed him to portray numerous memorable characters, including Len Reynolds in ITV's Emmerdale from 2001 to 2007.

Over the years, Peter Martin's acting repertoire expanded across various genres and productions. Alongside his prominent role in Emmerdale, he appeared in other notable television shows such as The Royle Family, Coronation Street, All Creatures Great and Small, Chucklevision, Playing the Field, Victoria Wood, and Last of the Summer Wine.

One of Martin's standout roles was his portrayal of Joe Carroll, the neighbor of Jim and Barbara Royle in the popular sitcom The Royle Family. He brought warmth and humor to the character, earning the admiration of viewers for his performance spanning 14 years. In addition to his comedic roles, Martin showcased his acting prowess in films such as Brassed Off, where he starred alongside Ewan McGregor and Pete Postlethwaite, reports Metro.

A sad week for Emmerdale fans

The news of Martin's death came just weeks after Dale Meeks, another former Emmerdale actor, passed away.

According to the Mirror, Meeks is known for his roles in popular television series such as Emmerdale and Byker Grove. He played the character Simon Meredith in Emmerdale between 2003 and 2006 and starred in the teen TV drama series Byker Grove as Greg, the leader of a gang from rival youth club Denton Burn.

Meeks was also a talented singer and won the ITV show Stars in Their Eyes Celebrity Special with fellow Emmerdale actor Mark Charnock as the Blues Brothers. He also appeared in a number of stage productions, including The Producers and Love Never Dies.

His cause of death is not confirmed.
