Shannen Doherty shares her joyful moments during the admirable battle against breast cancer.

Born on April 12, 1971, Shannen Doherty rose to prominence as a talented actress during the 1990s and early 2002, gaining the nickname of 'the iconic Hollywood 'bad girl' of the nineties'. Her most notable roles include Jenny Wilder in Little House on the Prairie (1982–1983), Maggie Malene in Girls Just Want to Have Fun (1985), Kris Witherspoon in Our House (1986–1988), and Heather Duke in Heathers (1988). However, her acting career has been facing a hiatus in recent years after she contracted serious health issues.

Shannen Doherty's peaceful life lately

In 2015, the American actress revealed her battle with breast cancer, which had spread to her lymph nodes and thus required chemotherapy and radiotherapy to assuage the tumor. Since the diagnosis, Shannen has been undergoing the toughest but also the bravest time of her life. Now, she is trying to recover from the lethal disease by taking a well-balanced diet and staying positive.

In a recent post on Instagram, the TV star excitedly shared about her cheat meal after a reset diet consisting of ‘no carbs, no sugar, and clean eating. She was utterly happy and decided to treat herself to fries, bread, and wine. But the concern over her own health condition is so overwhelming that she ‘felt like work’. She added:

‘Right now, I just want to be the best version of myself. Not sure what that is but I know eating right is the start. Tomorrow I go back to my clean eating but for now, I will enjoy one more dessert!’

Alongside strictly committing to a healthy diet, she makes a great effort to ease her mind and the best option coming out is to have quality time with her loved ones. In another post on Instagram, we caught Shannen happily dancing in a video with her mom inside a kitchen. Fans are so relieved that the actress is in a very positive state and her health is going from strength to strength. It is great to know that during her journey of suffering from a terrifying ordeal, she always receives endless love and support from family and friends.

She's still acting despite the cancer

At the height of her career, the Hollywood actress got diagnosed with breast cancer after she noticed a lump in her breast in 2015. At the beginning, she was in stage 0 in which the cancer is noninvasive or it is contained within the milk ducts. She was treated with hormone therapy but as the condition turned worse, she had to undergo a single mastectomy as well as chemotherapy and radiation.

In 2017, Doherty’s cancer went into remission. Unfortunately, it returned as stage IV breast cancer in February 2020. At this stage, cancer has turned to be more invasive and the cancerous cells could progress greatly beyond the original tumor. This means it had spread to other parts of her body and the condition was considerably dangerous.

Doherty simultaneously received cancer treatments and appeared in two TV movies last year, List of a Lifetime and Dying to Belong. Over the years, the actress has also turned to social media to share many moments of her cancer journey to her fans. She once detailed her struggles in a post:

‘I had many nose bleeds from the chemo. Not sure if any of you experienced this. I also was beyond tired. I cheered myself up by putting on funny pajamas that my friend Kristy gave me. Did they actually cheer me up? Yes!! Lol. I looked ridiculous and in that ridiculousness, I was able to laugh at myself. Finding humor helped get me thru what seemed impossible. I hope we all find humor in the impossible.’
