Strictly Come Dancing's Amy Dowden, is all set to take her place back on the dancefloor, once she deals with her tragic health condition, here's why.

Anyone who watches Strictly Come Dancing knows of Amy Dowden, who has been an integral part of the show since 2017, being the professional Latin and ballroom dancer of the show. Being the crème de la crème in her industry, she is one of UK’s finest dancers, who has brought so many accolades and pride to the country, with her talent.

The world was shocked by a piece of rather unpleasant news about Strictly Come Dancing’s Amy Dowden last month. The dancer was suffering a critically lethal condition that she revealed to her fans and followers. Here’s what it is.

Amy Dowden’s diagnosis

Dowden recently took charge and announced to her fans that she is fighting a battle against cancer. What started out as a lump, was soon confirmed to be stage 3 breast cancer through diagnosis. The 32-year-old dancer discovered the lump, right before her honeymoon to Maldives, with her long-time partner turned husband Ben Jones.

But as per the dancer herself, despite being aware of the lump during her trip, she tried to ignore it. And only after she got back home did she notice that it had gotten bigger in size, and she immediately tested it.

Her current health condition

The Welsh dancer has undergone a surgery to remove her right breast, and hopefully the cancer cells with it. She is currently said to be waiting to hear from the doctor if she’ll need any more treatments to battle cancer. She even updated her fans post-surgery, by posting a picture of her in the hospital bed with her thumbs up. With a lot of positivity and optimism, she expressed to her fans that her surgery went well.

She said the following on her Instagram post, while updating the world about her current situation:

“Step one to beating cancer! Rrrrrrready for this fight and more determined than ever to get back on the dance floor.”

Her post received a lot of support from fans worldwide, and everyone is happy to see her optimism and eagerness to return to the dancefloor real soon. In conversation with The Mirror, about her health condition and return to the show, Dowden said:

"If I only have radiotherapy I'll be back on Strictly this season. Once radiotherapy is done there'll be nothing to stop me, there's no pressure but Strictly is leaving the door open."
"It's having something to work towards, I'm visualising myself on that Strictly dance floor."
"Just being back in the ballroom with the live audience, the adrenaline and the atmosphere. And the support from the whole Strictly family. We can choreograph around me doing things with lifting, putting pressure on my arm."

But, it is to be noted that she will have some restrictions in terms of movement, given that she just finished surgery. And it is said that she cannot dance for six weeks, till she gets full movement.

Strictly Come Dancing sends love

Dowden’s co-stars and colleagues at Strictly Come Dancing are constantly sending support and love to her, as she battles a major life hurdle. In a conversation with Good Morning Britain, Anton said the following about Dowden and her battle with cancer.

She's an incredible girl, and we're all wishing her as much love as we can and as send much support as we can! We're all on a group chat and we're with her through the whole journey. We can't wait to see her back on the show, fighting fit."

From Gorka Marquez, to Kevin Clifton and Karen Hauer, everyone is seen showing so much love to Dowden, on her Instagram post.
