The former Three Lionesses star was confronted by BBC executives after breaking tight guidelines at the World Cup.

World Cup analyst Alex Scott has been chastised by BBC executives over a photo she posted on her Instagram profile of the broadcaster's studio in Qatar.

Alex broke this rule at World Cup

According to the Express, the BBC has chastised Alex Scott for violating its guidelines with her World Cup outfit choice.

The 38-year-old former player is covering the event for the broadcaster and recently uploaded a photo from the studio in Qatar.

Alex, who was wearing an orange Reiss suit and shoes, tagged the clothing company in the photo, in which she also acknowledged the BBC.

The former Arsenal player is an ambassador for Reiss, but the broadcaster frowns on promoting commercial partnerships. Some news and public affairs workers are prohibited from doing so, reports the Daily Mail.

Alex, who works for the BBC and earns between £195,000 and £199,999, was photographed sporting a £278 orange jacket and matching £168 pants, as well as a £228 silk shirt and a pair of sequin shoes.

After being scolded by BBC executives, Alex Scott modified the tweet over the weekend to erase the brand's endorsement, basically writing: ‘Work Vibing World Cup stuff with @bbcfootball @bbcsport.’

‘We have spoken with Alex, who has removed the tag and will not be repeating this’, a BBC spokeswoman said.

Alex Scott's controversial armband

However, it is not the first time Scott's choice of clothes has caused a stir at the controversial World Cup in Qatar.

After England captain Harry Kane and other teammates were pressured to back down from making the gesture, Scott donned a 'OneLove' rainbow armband during the presenter's pre-match coverage of England's game against Iran last month.

The goal was to express disapproval of any type of prejudice at the event in Qatar.

Football fans weighed in on the pundit's decision to wear the armband, with one saying:

‘Well done to @AlexScott and @BBCSport in standing up for what they believe in and sticking two fingers up to rules in wearing the One Love Armbands'.

Previously, the 140-cap former England right-back has criticized Qatar's treatment of LGBTQ+ individuals and its record on human rights in the run-up to the World Cup. However, the former football star still made the brave decision to publicly support the LGBTQ+ community before England's opening World Cup game.

Meanwhile, England chose not to wear the armband in Qatar owing to the risk of captain Harry Kane earning a yellow card.

Harry had intended to wear the OneLove armband during the tournament, along with numerous other foreign captains. However, the FA altered its position in the run-up to the game after issuing a statement criticizing FIFA.
