Tom Felton opens up about 'secret love' for Harry Potter co-star Emma Watson

Harry Potter is undoubtedly one of the greatest movie franchises to ever be created, and any die-hard fan of the film will remember the interaction between the malicious Draco Malfoy and the three protagonists: Harry, Ron, and Hermione. In fact, Draco, played by Tom Felton, has been regarded as one of the most memorable anti-hero roles in the movie world.

Thanks to Felton's acting skills, his dynamics with the 'Fab Three' became exciting to watch. And throughout the chapters, fans can easily spot his chemistry with Hermione - played by Hollywood actress Emma Watson. And after all these years, we have always wondered: Has there been actually anything between them?

Felton reflects on his feeling for Emma Watson

According to Cosmopolitan, Harry Potter star Tom Felton has spoken of his longtime-rumored relationship with Emma Watson, saying what started as an on-set friendship deepened into something more significant.

Felton, 35, who played the antagonist Draco Malfoy, claims in his new memoir that they were 'kindred spirits' after meeting on set. The duo bonded instantly and have remained friends ever since.

He revealed his 'love and admiration' for Watson:

'I loved and admired her as a person in a way I could never explain to anybody else.'

Fans of the movies have long hypothesized that there was a spark between them, but Felton has repeatedly denied it. However, in a candid passage of Beyond The Wand, he admits that his girlfriend felt some unspoken bond between Emma and him at that time.

When Watson, 32, paid him a visit in 2019 at his home in Venice Beach, California, he uploaded pictures of her practicing the guitar while still in her pajamas on Instagram, which went viral. He claims in the book that they first connected at the Harry Potter audition when he was 11 and she was 9.

She pointed at a boom mic in the room and asked, 'What's that?' and Tom told her: 'It means they are recording us, obviously.' He added:

'My relationship with Emma did not start well. She'd have been forgiven for not wanting much to do with me. It got worse.'

Felton and the other Slytherin actors formed a group and spent their time listening to rap music and going out for cigarette breaks, reports Nicky Swift.

A message was passed on that Watson, who played Hermione Granger, had put together 'a little dance show in her dressing room that she wanted to present it to us at lunchtime… we were predictably dismissive'.

He shared:

'We sniggered our way down to Emma's show and the sniggers grew louder as she danced. We were just being s***** boys, largely out of awkwardness and because we thought taking the p*** was cool. I did feel like a bit of a d**k, and rightly so.'In the end, it was up to one of the hair and make-up ladies to tell me what was what.'

But the star also confesses his 'secret love for Emma (Watson)' and admits there was a thing between them:

'I've always had a secret love for Emma, though not perhaps in the way that people might want to hear. That isn't to say that there's never been a spark between us. There most definitely has, only at different times.'

Felton was first told that Watson had a crush on him when she was 12 and he was 15 and had a girlfriend. Being told, he was not truly convinced.

He said:

'Rumours started to abound that there was more to our relationship than we were letting on. I denied that I liked her in that way, but the truth was different.'

The TV star also recalled his then-girlfriend's opinion on his and Watson's bond:

'My girlfriend at the time knew straight away that there was something unspoken between us. I remember using the familiar old line, 'I love her like a sister.' But there was more to it than that.'

Felton clarified, saying he 'was never in love' with Emma:

'I don't think I was ever in love with Emma, but I loved and admired her as a person in a way that I could never explain to anybody else… we were kindred spirits. I know for certain I'll always have Emma's back and she'll always have mine too.'

Miss Watson has already expressed her affection for Felton. She said: 'He was my first crush. He totally knows. We talked about it – we still laugh about it.'

At the present, while Tom is in a relationship with Roxanne Danya, Emma is currently dating British businessman Sir Philip Green's son Brandon.
