Wayne Rooney's son Kai is the splitting image of his father, and Manchester United fans already have a lot of expectations from him.

When it comes to footballers and their sons, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Whether it is Romeo Beckham being called David Beckham’s twin for copying his famous haircut, or for generally being the spitting image of his father David, fathers and sons tend to be identical.

This is the case for the Rooney family as well, with Wayne Rooney’s older son Kai looking like a carbon copy of the former Manchester United player. For those who don’t know, Wayne Rooney’s wife, Coleen, is caught in the middle of a legal battle. Showing support during this time is Wayne and his lookalike son Kai. This is what is going on with the Rooney family.

The Wagatha Christie case

After doing somewhat of an investigative stint against Rebekah Vardy, Coleen had accused Vardy of leaking stories about her. The long drawn-out battle went to court, and the case was nicknamed as the Wagatha Christie trial by the media. Now, Disney + has bought the rights for this case and is releasing a documentary on the same, about the two footballer wives battling it out legally. The documentary provides an insight into the behind-the-scene emotions from Coleen’s perspective as she faced the trial. But eventually, the judge ruled in favor of Coleen.

Recently, there was a premiere conducted in Liverpool for the documentary, and accompanying Coleen were her husband Wayne and her son Kai.

Kai - the next Wayne

While Coleen enjoyed her limelight in the wake of a successful legal victory, all eyes were on the men of the family. It looks like the Rooney genes run strong because Kai was a splitting image of Wayne. And people could not get enough of the lookalike father-son duo. Both Wayne and Kai also dressed in a similar fashion by adopting a smart casual look for the premiere. Adorned with trendy trainers and a blazer, the Rooney boys were dressed to the nines, as they supported the leading lady of their lives.

Kai’s pro football career

Not only does the young man look like his father, but it looks like he is following his father’s footsteps too. Kai Rooney is an upcoming football sensation, who plays for Manchester United’s youth academy as a forward. And just like Wayne, 13-year-old Kai is apparently a treat to watch as he is progressing in his game. In fact, it is said that fans call Kai ‘the future of Manchester United’. With a ton of guidance and support from the former Manchester United captain, Kai is also said to be copying Rooney’s style of playing. This includes controlling the ball on his chest, much like Wayne used to do.

Kai’s Manchester United stint

As per Inside Sport, Kai Rooney has claimed that he is an Everton fan. But the future star wants to follow in his father’s footsteps and play for United when he grows up. He has been involved with Manchester United since 2020 and currently plays for the club’s under-13 team.

Ever since he signed with Man United, Kai has been delivering incredible performances year after year. The season after he signed with the club, he scored 56 goals and was a part of 28 assists. In fact, he scored all four goals against Liverpool, when United lost 5-4 against them. Fans are extremely thrilled to see a little Rooney on the field, especially since senior Rooney retired as a player. With comments such as ‘no DNA test needed’ and ‘the future of Manchester United’, fans are looking forward to seeing Kai play for the Red Devils soon.
