An impressive entrance

Maya Jama is a British television presenter, radio host, and model. She rose to fame as a host on the British music channel 4Music, before moving on to host her own shows on BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio 1Xtra. Jama is also known for her appearances on various British TV shows, including The Circle, Don't Hate the Playaz, and The Big Narstie Show.

In addition to her career in media, Jama has also modeled for various brands and she's the brand ambassador for Adidas. Jama is known for her charismatic personality and quick wit and has gained a large following on social media.

With such charisma and fan following, it isn't surprising to know that the bosses of Love Island and fans alike were extremely impressed by Jama's debut on the show. The Daily Mail reports that they expect to enter her into a multi-series deal.

Jonathan Shalit, an industry expert noted:

Maya is quite simply fantastic - a true star and now a household name. She has nailed the role of Love Island host totally and shown herself to be a world A-list star. She is now a major TV force to be reckoned with.

A list of famous exes

One of the more famous partners that Jama had was the British rapper Stormzy. Jama started dating the rapper in 2016, and at the time fans were elated for the couple, however, the relationship abruptly ended in 2019, reports HELLO! Magazine.

The duo was recently spotted at a Kendrick Lamar concert, and fans experienced a tinge of excitement at the thought of a reunion, but Jama later elaborated on the subject saying that they're not back together, but they've 'remained great friends.'

Her most recent relationship was with the Australian-born basketball player, Ben Simmons. She started dating Simmons in May, 2021, two months later the couple made the relationship official later got engaged in December of that year. That being said, reports of a the engagement being put on hold arose in August 2022 as both of them had conflicting schedules.

Change of plans

Last month, it was revealed by The Sun that the couple had gone their separate ways on the grounds of focusing on their individual career. Furthermore, current reports add that the basketballer has sent Jama a legal letter demanding that she return the £800,000 engagement ring immediately.

A spokesperson for Jama spoke to The Sun:

Maya received a request from Ben’s representatives on Friday afternoon, asking her to return the engagement ring that he gave her as a gift last year. This was the first time that she has been asked by Ben to return it and, for the avoidance of any doubt, she has never refused to return it. Maya is making arrangements to return the ring to Ben and wishes him all the best.

A friend of Simmons noted:

Ben was really shocked when she left and didn’t give him the ring back. He was madly in love with her and thought it was forever so was really p***ed she didn’t give it back. It cost around $1 million (£800,000) and they were engaged less than a year.

Jama has recently been on a high with her debut on Love Island, and although it seems likely that she is intent on returning the ring, it is certain that this is a difficult situation for Jama and Simmons, and ultimately it puts forth a finality to their relationship.
