However, far from having a perfect love life, the Duke of Sussex used to suffer mentally from his past romantic relationships. Recently in his memoir Spare, the Prince has elaborated about his previous relationships, which include famous exes such as Cressida Bonas, Chelsy Davy, and the late Caroline Flack.

Prince Harry's worst breakup

According to the Mirror, in his memoir, the Prince gives details about his intriguing romance with Florence St George, whom he dated in the summer of 2011 but had to break up shortly afterward.

A former Tatler cover girl, Florence is the only daughter of wine merchant Andrew Brudenell-Bruce. A History of Art graduate, Florence previously had a successful modeling career, having worked with big brands like Brora and John Lewis.

She was living in Notting Hill when she met Harry through mutual friends, reports Cosmopolitan. At the time, the Prince had just called it quits on his on-and-off relationship with Chelsy Davy and was recovering from the heartbreak.

How did Harry and Florence meet?

Recalling the night they met, the father of two writes:

'We sat at the bar, chatted and laughed, while the friends with us melted away, along with the walls and the drinks and the barman.'

He added: 'I suggested the whole group go back to Clarence House for a nightcap.'

And when the party was over, Prince Harry offered Florence a lift back to her flat.

Why did they break up?

Prince Harry also gushes that he felt Florence could be 'the one' he was looking for and that they spent an 'idyllic' few weeks together. However, their romance lasted only a few months due to intense media scrutiny.

Harry recalls Florence phoning him and crying:

'She (Florence) said she was under twenty-four-hour surveillance. Like some kind of criminal. I could hear sirens in the background… She was upset, crying… She said one last time: 'I can't do this anymore, Harry.'

In 2021, amid the growing tension between Prince Harry and the British Royal Family, Florence once opened up about her past romance with Prince Harry. She explained to Stella Magazine that she 'feels lucky' that their love ended so quickly:

'A new story would appear almost every day in the press, my school friends were interrogated, and there were photographers outside my front door. I take my hat off to those people who can cope with that lifestyle, but I knew I couldn’t. Although it was sad at the time, I feel lucky that the relationship was short-lived.'

Following the separation, the Prince said he almost 'stopped sleeping' feeling so disappointed and 'profoundly dejected.'

Luckily, the Prince quickly recovered from the hard-hitting trauma and went on to eventually marry Meghan Markle in 2018.

Meanwhile, Florence also found the love of her life, Henry Edward Hugh St George, and married him in 2013. Their daughter, Iris, was born in 2014. Their son, Jimmy, arrived two years later.
