Sylvester Stallone and his former model wife, Jennifer Flavin are divorcing after a tumultuous 25-year marriage that was marred by infidelity and extramarital affairs.
According to TMZ, Sylvester Stallone’s wife Jennifer Flavin filed for divorce from her long-term spouse on Friday, accusing the Rambo actor of 'dissipating marital assets' and leaving an 'adverse impact on the marital estate'.
Why did the pair split?
The obtained court document obtained by PEOPLE, which was filed at a court in Palm Beach Country, Florida, detailed how Stallone has 'engaged in the intentional dissipation, depletion and/or waste of marital assets which has had an adverse economic impact on the marital estate.'
Lawyers and representatives from Flavin have not made any new announcements regarding the drama. On the other hand, Stallone unabashedly claimed that ‘I love my family’ in response to the interview from Insider. He told the publication:
‘We are amicably and privately addressing these personal issues.’
Meanwhile, Flavin confirmed the split, telling PEOPLE that despite no longer being married, she and Stallone would continue to be 'committed to our beautiful daughters'. The former model shared:
'I'm sad to announce that after 25 years of marriage I have filed for divorce from my husband Sylvester Stallone. While we will no longer be married, I will always cherish the more than a 30-year relationship that we shared, and I know we are both committed to our beautiful daughters. I ask for privacy for our family as we amicably move forward.'
The Rocky Balboa actor first met his wife in 1988 at a Beverly Hills eatery. Following an on-and-off romance, during which Stallone cheated on Flavin with another supermodel named Janice Dickinson, the couple reconciled in 1995. Despite the Oscar winner's notorious history of infidelity, they walked down the aisle in 1997 in a low-key chapel ceremony at Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire. Since the marriage, the pair have welcomed three children: Sophia, 26, Sistine, 24, and Scarlet, 20.
Stallone got a tattoo of his wife removed
Rumors about Stallone and Flavin's rocky relationship first sparked after the Hollywood star recently got a tattoo of Flavin covered up with an image of his late dog and Rocky costar, Butkus, the Dailymail reported. It went from bad to worse on August 10 when Flavin took to Instagram to share a picture of her hugging her three daughters, bitterly writing that ‘nothing else matters’ and ‘the 4 of us forever.’ We can no longer find Stallone on her following list on Instagram, and her cryptic post was apparently deleted after their split rumors flooded social networks.
The pair's bitter split came just three months after they celebrated their silver wedding anniversary, marking the milestone with a lavish party in May 2022. For the occasion, Stallone and Flavin both took to Instagram to pay sweet tributes to each other. The 76-year-old First Blood star described his wife as an ‘incredibly selfless, dedicated, patient woman’ and he wished for ‘another 25’.
Flavin replied, utterly happy: 'Thank you for always keeping me laughing, loving, and protecting our beautiful family!’
This is not the first time Sylvester Stallone has made headlines with his divorce. Stallone's marriage to his first wife Sasha Czack lasted from 1974 to 1985, sharing two sons, Seargeoh and Sage, the latter died of a heart attack at 36 in 2012. Between 1985 and 1987, Stallone had a brief marriage to his Rocky IV co-star Brigitte Nielsen but welcomed no children with her.
