The show is coming to the UK for the first time in 25 years, and the country has announced the singer who will represent it in this year's contest.

The Eurovision Song Contest is one of the biggest international entertainment competitions, and this year the renowned show is making its way to UK shores.

Liverpool was announced as the host city back in October, beating Glasgow in the final run-off. It’ll be the first time the UK has hosted the contest since 1998, after Katrina and the Waves won first place with ‘Love Shine A Light’ the previous year.

When is Eurovision 2023?

According to Time Out, the 67th Eurovision grand final will take place on May 13, with the semi-finals on May 9 and 11.

How can I watch it?

Tickets for Eurovision 2023 have already sold out, but the semi-finals and final will be broadcast live on BBC One and iPlayer, reports Radio X.

As per previous years, you should be able to tune in to the Grand Final of Eurovision 2023 on BBC One, with Graham Norton returning for his usual hilarious commentary. Ukrainian singer Julia Sanina will co-host Eurovision 2023 with Alesha Dixon and actress Hannah Waddingham. Graham Norton will join them to host the grand final on May 13.

Who are the favorites for this year's contest?

After years of landing at the bottom of the rankings, the UK came second last year and will be hosting this year on behalf of the winner, Ukraine. The remaining 31 participating countries will compete across two semi-finals to fill the other 20 places in the final show. France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK – aka ‘The Big Five’ – automatically qualify for the final. As last year’s winner, Ukraine also has a guaranteed spot.

Who will represent the UK?

According to Sky Sports, the UK has announced Mae Muller as its act for Eurovision 2023, in a bid to replicate the success of last year's Sam Ryder. Sam finished in second place last year and topped the jury votes leaderboard.

The young pop star will be singing her track 'I Wrote A Song' - a catchy dance track about a cheating ex-boyfriend. After keeping the news secret for two months, Mae called representing her country in the contest honestly a dream.

According to the Independent, Mae will be the first female entrant for the UK since SuRie competed in 2018 with Storm, coming 24th. Coincidentally, Muller was born in 1997, the same year the UK last won Eurovision with Katrina And The Waves' Love Shine A Light.
