This Morning fans fumed as Gino D'Acampo used an extremely luxurious ingredient for his dish amid the great inflation over the cost of living.
Gino is a famous Italian celebrity chef and media personality based in the United Kingdom, best known for his food-focused television shows and cookbooks. D'Acampo rose to popularity as a regular chef on the ITV show This Morning, and various other shows.
Gino D'Acampo slammed for using truffle
Recently, the celebrity chef cooked a creamy chipolata and mascarpone pasta for viewers of the ITV show, as he returned to the blue sofa to join hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby. However, the star was criticized by viewers for insisting on using the truffle despite the fact that it cost three figures for a little slice.
Although the pasta was described as the 'perfect midweek dinner', several viewers complained that under the cost of living crisis, the dish should not have called for truffles due to their exorbitant cost. The use of such a costly dish to garnish the spaghetti was criticized by incensed viewers on Twitter, who said that it should and definitely could have been replaced.
Gino argued throughout the segment that the truffle was necessary and that it is what he would use at home. He said it was his son's idea to request the recipe's opulent addition on This Morning and joked that it would be deducted from the hosts' compensation.
However, viewers at home were baffled by the choice to use white truffles when so many people out there are unable to simply put food on the table. Anger-filled viewers criticized the show on social media, saying they would rather watch the team prepare ‘healthy meals on a budget’ than use pricey ingredients.
