Christina Aguilera has unfollowed Britney Spears on Instagram after a controversial post.
The relationship between the Princess of Pop and Diva Girl Christina Aguilera has never been smooth sailing. Both are of the same age, their careers develop in parallel and are always weighed against each other. Maybe that's why the relationship between the two pop icons is always tense and controversial.
Britney reignites feud with Christina
According to Page Six, Britney Spears has again sparked a feud between herself and the Lady Marmalade singer after allegedly body-shaming Christina's dancer in her latest Instagram post.
Britney posted to Instagram on Monday night about her memories and experiences when she worked with the 'tiniest' backup dancers, which make her fat. She said that her confidence was shaken when she had to perform when her infamous 13-year conservatorship still happened.
She shared with her Instagram followers:
‘I wish I could have chosen nannies for my children … my dancers … I mean if I had Christina Aguilera’s dancers I would have looked extremely small [dancers emojis]… I mean why not talk about it ??’I found there was only one way to look thin: hang out with fat people.’
The Baby One More Time star continued emotionally:
‘Don’t you think my confidence would have been a bit better if I could choose where I lived, ate, whom I called on the phone, dated and who was on stage with me !!! It’s hard sometimes now I see how much of my womanhood was stripped away at that time and every person sat back and didn’t say a thing !!!’
She ended her caption: ‘Anyways … I will be here talking bout things people NEVER talked about.’
After what Britney posted, where she pointed at Christina and her backup dancers, fans online have detected that Christina is no longer following the Toxic singer on Instagram.
Fans beg Britney to delete the post
Her followers quickly flooded the comment section to beg her to delete the post, with one saying: ‘Oof. Love Britt- but this was in bad taste. Body shaming to make yourself feel better is not where it’s at.’
Another commented: ‘Girl, heal yourself, but don’t repost toxic s*** like this to try and do so. Doesn’t make you any better.’
One person wrote: ‘Amen. Christina Aguilera finally unfollowed Britney Spears.’.
Christina's agents have been contacted for comment on this report by The Mirror.
Britney and Christina's long-standing feud
Whether Christina was already following Britney before the singer's post on Monday night or not is unknown, but this isn't the first time the Princess of Pop has pointed at her fellow Disney Club alumni on Instagram.
It was when Britney hit at Christina for allegedly refusing to talk about her contentious 13-year conservatorship. Britney screamed:
‘13 years in a corrupt system, yet why is it such a hard topic for people to talk about???’
But Christina had previously come on Twitter to passionately back Britney and support her petition for independence.
‘These past few days I've been thinking about Britney and everything she's going through,’ Christina wrote in a long Twitter series of posts released in June 2021, when Britney was still stuck with her contentious conservatorship.
Christina added:
‘It is unacceptable that any woman or human, wanting to be in control of their own destiny, might not be allowed to live life as they wish. To be silenced, ignored, bullied, or denied support by those 'close' to you is the most depleting, devastating, and demeaning thing imaginable. The harmful mental and emotional damage this can take on a human spirit is nothing to be taken lightly.’
Christina also talked about how ‘every woman must have the right to her own body’ and completed her many tweets with: ‘My heart goes out to Britney. She deserves all the TRUE love and support in the world.’
