At the age of 19, Bobby is pursuing a professional career as a model, having worked with high-profile fashion brands such as Tommy Hilfiger and Dolce & Gabbana. EastEnders will mark the first time that Bobby Brazier ever stars in a TV show.

Bobby will bring back the character of Freddie Slater

Bobby's appearance as Freddie Slater is much-anticipated given that the last time his character showed up in Walford was back in 2006 when he and his mother turned over a new leaf. Bosses at BBC have described Freddie, now 18 in the series, as having 'a heart of gold' but always finding himself in trouble. According to The Sun, a boss at the broadcasting company said:

'A bundle of energy and a truckload of trouble, Freddie Slater has a heart of gold but can’t help getting himself into mischief. While he’s sweet like his mum, he certainly isn’t shy and manages to cause a stir wherever he goes – but is he a true Slater at heart?'

EastEnders' exucutive producer Chris Clenshaw described Bobby's character as a 'modern day lad' with a 'sensitive soul', saying:

'Freddie Slater is a chaotic 18-year-old with a sensitive soul. A modern-day lad who’s in touch with his spiritual side. He’s philosophical, and accepting, but full of mischief and makes mistakes.'

Regarding his first acting role, Bobby Brazier said that he is 'really excited' to star in EastEnders and acting has always been 'a vision' of his. The model said:

'I’m really excited to be joining the cast of EastEnders – so far it’s been perfect. Everybody has been so beautiful to me and made settling in easier than I could’ve hoped. Stepping into the acting world has always been a vision of mine and doing that with EastEnders as a Slater is a blessing, I’m very grateful. Loving every minute of Freddie so far and can’t wait to see what’s in store for him in Walford.'

Speaking on the BBC bosses' decision to cast him, Clenshaw claimed that despite Bobby's inexperience in acting, he is an 'amazing yougn addition' and therefore could 'brings heart and humility' to the recurring character of Freddie Slater. He said:

'Bobby is an amazing young addition to the EastEnders cast who brings heart and humility to the role of Freddie Slater and I can’t wait for audiences to get to know him.'

Who is Bobby's parents Jade Goody and Jeff Brazier?

Bobby is the first child of late actress Jade Goody and ex-husband Jeff Brazier. Goody became famous after starring in Channel 4's hit show Big Brother before securing more prominent roles in Celebrity Big Brother. Meanwhile, Jeff Brazier is a reality TV personality and host with a multitude of shows such as This Morning, Loose Women, and Celebrity SAS under his belt.

The couple was married in 2009, shortly after Goody was diagnosed with cervical cancer. Their romance was short-lived, however, with Goody's tragic death from the illness in 2009. During their courtship, Jeff Brazier and Jade Goody shared two sons, Bobby and his younger brother Freddy, who was born in 2004. Since Goody's passing, Jeff Brazier has been raising both sons and married again in 2018 to Kate Dwyer.

Kate Lawler, a fellow contestant with Jade Goddy in 2002’s Big Brother, said that the late actress 'would be so proud' of her son. She said:

Jade would be so proud. I can just see Bobby being in EastEnders. His dad’s got that kind of accent and I can imagine him sounding like him.'

According to the Dailymail, Jade Goddy was an avid fan of EastEnders when she was alive and even intended to land a role in the soap.
