Kate Middleton knows the perfect recipe for keeping her toned fitness, but it comes as a surprise that her routine doesn't involve the gym in it.

Every one of us has a personal preference when it comes to staying in shape, and there is no 'one size fits all' solution. Some people always hit the gym, while a number of others choose other outdoor activities and even Youtube workouts in the comfort of their own homes.

For Kate Middleton, however, the secret to her enviable fitness at the age of 40 may be surprising as it is not as gym-heavy as you might think.

Kate Middleton's impressive physique

As a public figure and royal mum of three whose responsibilities in the British Royal Family are increasing day by day, it must be hard for the Princess of Wales to spend time on intensive workouts. Despite her hectic routine which involves everything from carrying out engagements to dropping the kids at school, Kate Middleton still has a very enviable look at the age of 41 thanks to her exercise routine and diet.

It's widely acknowledged that Kate has always been a fan of sports and the outdoors, with Mike Tindall once describing her as an 'engine' due to her endless passion for running. However, as she becomes more and more burdened with family and royal duties, the Princess has to invent creative ways to stay fit.

What is Kate Middleton's exercise routine?

According to the Mirror, during a recent reception for the England Wheelchair Rugby League team in Hampton Court Palace, Kate Middleton congratulated athletes and coaches in honor of their recent success at the World Cup final. The 41-year-old, who became Patron of England Rugby last year, also revealed how she managed to keep fit with her kids all day.

Rather than traditional gymnastics, the Princess of Wales explains that 'running around after the children' helps her to stay fit. When asked if she herself went to the gym, Kate said:

'It’s running around after the children - I do it all, whenever I can squeeze in exercise I do, even jumping on the trampoline with my children before school.'

She also reveals that her children share the same love for sports, saying:

'We’re always slightly competitive with each other. They all love sports and Louis is mad about rugby. They are at an age where they just love running around.'

Does Kate Middleton go to the gym?

According to Cosmopolitan, while the Princess's current workout routine hardly involves any gym, she used to be a die-hard gym fanatic.

The publication says that Kate Middleton would always go to the local Harbor Club in Chelsea, which cost £1555 to register and then £325 every month thereafter. A source previously told Glamor Magazine how Kate places importance on her physique:

'Kate takes her toned physiques exceptionally seriously. The Princess is reportedly also a fan of CrossFit and yoga, makes time to go for a run most days, enjoys cycling, and does most of her workouts without a personal trainer.'

What is Kate Middleton's diet?

Workout is only a part of how Kate Middleton keeps her impressive physique, and the other crucial factor is how she eats every day. According to Woman And Home, the 41-year-old's diet is very high in nutritious foods, which help fuel her fast-paced lifestyle.

According to Cosmopolitan, the Princess always starts her day with a vitamin hit, which can be found in various types of smoothies. And instead of going out to posh restaurants, she always prefers home-cook meals, which usually include soups, curries, and roast chicken.
