Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson made headlines after asking the Brits whether 'they're ready for another Johnson PM' to replace Liz Truss

According to the Mirror, the Hollywood actor has proposed himself to the position previously held by Liz Truss.

Liz Truss: The shortest-serving PM

On Thursday, Liz Truss confirmed that she has resigned as UK PM, a cumulative result of a failed tax-cutting budget and economic program that rocked financial markets and led to her fall from grace within her own Conservative party.

Speaking outside of her No 10 Downing Street office, Truss, who was appointed on September 6, admitted that she had failed to live up to her party's expectations. According to the Express, Truss' resignation makes her the shortest-serving Prime Minister in British history, with only 44 days in office, most of which was cloaked by the country's mourning for Queen Elizabeth II's death.

Truss said:

'I have therefore spoken to His Majesty the King to notify him that I am resigning as leader of the Conservative Party.'

In the race for the next UK PM, ex-finance minister Rishi Sunak and Penny Mordaunt are among the favorite candidates, reports The Guardian. However, joining the pair will likely be the disgraced Boris Johnson, who was ousted in July following a series of ministerial resignations and cabinet scandals. The election, under Sir Graham Brady's control, will wrap up within the next week, much faster than the previous two-month period.

And while it remains undetermined whether Boris Johnson will emerge as a hopeful PM, another Johnson has proposed himself for the position.

Who is Dwayne Johnson?

Dwayne Johnson first rose to fame as The Rock, a popular wrestling personality. An injury ended his college football career, so he entered the ring with the WWE. He famously feuded with wrestler Steve Austin and won the WWE Heavyweight title numerous times. Johnson then parlayed his wrestling fame into a film career, appearing in projects like 2001's The Mummy Returns and 2010's Tooth Fairy. Later projects include the HBO series Ballers and leading roles in The Fast and the Furious and Jumanji franchises and the voice of demigod Maui in Moana.

Will Johnson be campaigning for PM?

The celebrity, as one of the highest-paid actors in the world and a well-known good man in Hollywood, is frequently questioned about whether he would consider a presidential campaign.

In an interview with Sky News at the Black Adam launch, Dwayne Johnson addressed his political view and questioned whether the UK was ready for him - as their next PM.

During the speech, the Black Adam star asked the British people if they are ‘ready for another Johnson prime minister’ in an unexpected legislative twist.

‘Are you ready for another Johnson government?’, he stated at the premiere of his latest anti-hero superhero picture, Black Adam.

He went on to say, 'Maybe Rock Prime Minister,' implying his political identity and pledging to help the UK amid the country's present political instability’.

'I will tell you this,' he told Sky News. It's nice to be back in London. I'll tell you.'

Following demands from across the pond for the US actor to run for president in the White House, The Rock has launched a candidacy for British political leadership.

‘I have seriously considered it. You have to’, he told the media in a recent interview.

He said:

‘When you start looking at some of these polls, and these numbers creep up into the 46%, 50% of the country would vote for me should I run, and I have been - I've been really moved by that’.

In a continuing effort to get the movie star to run for president, supporters have even formed the website The Rock For President.

Someone wrote on the homepage of that website:

‘We seek to convince Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson to come to our nation's rescue by running for President as an independent or as head of a new third party’.

Another wrote, asking for a 'leader who will inspire':

‘We need a leader who will inspire. A leader who understands adversity, but embodies determination, power, and accomplishment. Dwayne Johnson is renowned for his successes as a sports figure, actor, and the creator of the production business. He is also one of the most well-liked, personable, and inspiring individuals in the US’.

A third praised Johnson:

‘Dwayne Johnson is more qualified than many presidents and presidential candidates in recent history. He is a living symbol of courage, strength, and integrity’.
