EastEnders fans are hoping for a Christmas miracle, in the form of Mick Carter's speculated return. Here's why.

EastEnders is one of those iconic British dramas that have stood the test of time. Having started way back in 1985, the show is almost 40 years strong. And over the course of close to 4 decades, a lot has happened to the lives of the residents of Walford.

The fictional community is always bubbling with new energy, with fresh faces joining the cast. And just like the show introduces new characters, a lot of iconic characters have left the EastEnders community, never to come back. But, some characters do make a return in an unexpected series of events. And Mick Carter, played by Danny Dyer, could be one of them. Here’s what we know.

Danny’s speculated return

Danny Dyer, who plays Mick Carter, quit the show last year for certain reasons. Mick Carter disappeared into the sea, marking his dramatic exit from the iconic show. Fans are speculating a big bang of a return to the show by Danny. And honestly, you can’t put this past the makers of the show, given that other cast members have made legendary comebacks to the series even after 25 years.

This, given the fact that certain EastEnders stars have left a void when they joined Strictly Come Dancing, is a further incentive to bring back popular characters from the show. But all this speculation aside, there are hints that the storyline of the series warrants Mick’s comeback. And here’s why that is.

Mick Carter X EastEnders

To understand the reason for this speculated comeback, it is essential to dive a little bit into Mick’s storyline. This Christmas marks the 10th year anniversary of Mick’s introduction into the series. And honestly, the timing is just perfect, making it the perfect way to reintroduce the character.

After a turbulent relationship with his soulmate Linda Carter, and his new wife Janine Butcher, Mick Carter faced numerous crossroads in life, only to get back with Linda. And he was on a quest to find Janine to finally bring justice to his situation. But in the hullabaloo of all of this, Mick was part of a car crash that led to him getting thrown off a cliff.

Right now, there seem to be a lot of hints dropped on the show regarding Mick and his untimely accident. And with Linda’s rapist Dean on the prowl, and Linda’s recurring drinking habit, everything points towards Mick’s return as per Entertainment Daily.

Danny hints at his return

But there has not been any official confirmation about this speculation from Danny Dyer or the makers of the show. Although fans experienced a brief moment of excitement recently when Danny mentioned that he was ‘going back’ on his Instagram. But unfortunately, he was referring to his return to the sets of The Football Factory.

Danny’s Instagram comments section was flooded with eager fans urging him to come back to EastEnders as Mick Carter.

Danny has always been vocal about what EastEnders means to him. In fact, while on The Jonathan Ross Show earlier this year, he said the following about EastEnders, and his exit from the series.

“It’s a very emotional thing, it’s such a big part of me. If it goes [bleep] up I can go back. I can turn up in three years’ time, walk in The Queen Vic smothered in seaweed. They wanted to keep it open. I’m very privileged and grateful for that job. It really did change my career and my life.”

While Danny also took to expressing certain things he didn’t like about the show in other conversations, he still has some kind of a soft spot for Mick. He seems to think that things can go either way, and Mick could in fact return to Walford.
