The star's unexpected appearance alongside his close friend, Bryan Edery, left fans astounded as they witnessed Peter's incredible transformation.

Peter Kay, born on July 2, 1973, in Bolton, Lancashire, has undoubtedly left an indelible mark on the world of comedy. In 1997, Kay won the prestigious North West Comedian of the Year competition, which served as a springboard for his burgeoning career. He went on to secure various television appearances, including spots on shows like New Voices and That Peter Kay Thing, showcasing his comedic prowess and endearing persona.

Kay's breakthrough came with the critically acclaimed sitcom Phoenix Nights. Co-created and co-written by Kay, the show followed the trials and tribulations of a working-class social club in Bolton. Premiering in 2001, Phoenix Nights became an instant hit, winning multiple awards and earning a devoted fan base.

Following the success of his first tour, Kay continued to break records with subsequent tours. His Mum Wants a Bungalow tour in 2003 became the fastest-selling stand-up tour in UK history, selling over 1.2 million tickets.

In 2017, Peter Kay canceled his tour and other work commitments due to unforeseen family circumstances. Taking to Twitter, he expressed his regret and prioritized his family's well-being over his professional engagements.

A very different appearance

According to The Sun, the 49-year-old has been performing as part of his UK tour which will see him perform in various UK cities right up until 2025.

Following one of his shows at the O2 recently, Kay was seen in a video with his friend - event pianist Bryan Edery. In the Instagram video captured by Edery, Peter playfully repeated one of his famous catchphrases, saying, 'Two lamb bhunas.' The duo stood side by side, with Peter sporting a relaxed black hoodie and tracksuit bottoms, while Bryan stood out in a vibrant green jacket and jeans.

Bryan, filled with admiration for Peter Kay, paid a heartfelt tribute to their friendship after attending Peter's outstanding show at the O2 arena. He wrote:

'In a touching tribute to his close friend, Bryan said: "I was fortunate enough to be invited by my good friends to see Peter Kay's amazing show at the O2. And then very lucky to meet the man himself backstage. Go and see Peter's show, it's incredible. Secondly, thank you friends, you know who you are.'

Peter's surprise appearance left many fans amazed, particularly by his significant weight loss. One fan exclaimed: 'Wow, that's some mega weight loss, Peter lad,' while another admitted: 'I honestly did not know who he was... until I read Peter Kay!!!'

A third fan speculated that Peter's time away from the spotlight may have been due to his focus on achieving a healthier lifestyle, stating:

'Looking good. Why don’t people give positive praise when people lose weight! He looks much healthier than he's ever looked. You can't win, when people are heavy people slag them off and when they lose weight and look good people say they look ill. The guy looks good.'
