The comedian's last stand-up tour was canceled for personal reasons, but he is set to return to stand-up comedy with his first live tour in 12 years.

Comedian Peter Kay has been away from the spotlight over the past five years, having canceled his statewide tour in 2017 due to family obligations. Recently, the British singer has announced a huge comeback tour, which has fans deeply delighted.

Who is Peter Kay?

Peter Kay is a popular and well-loved comedian in the UK, having appeared in numerous television and film endeavors. The celebrity has also published three books of his own and performed stand-up comedy, which catapulted him to superstardom.

Peter won Channel 4's So You Think You're Funny competition in 1997, and a year later he was nominated for a Perrier Award for his Edinburgh Fringe Festival stand-up show.

That Peter Kay Thing premiered on Channel 4 in 2000, and its success spawned the extremely successful spin-off series Phoenix Nights.

According to the Guardian, Peter Kay also co-wrote and starred in Britain's Got the Pop Factor... and Possibly a New Celebrity Jesus Christ Soapstar Superstar Strictly on Ice. He also co-wrote another favorite Television comedy, Car Share, in 2015.

In 2001, he tied the knot with Susan Gargan who now shares with him three children: Charlie Michael Kay, 18, and two younger children. The couple has kept their family life mostly private, and their younger children have remained out of the spotlight.

Next month, the 49-year-old comedian will embark on a UK-wide arena tour, bringing his brand new stage performance to a variety of notable venues. Peter will be on tour for the first time in 12 years, according to Standard UK.

During breaks of I'm A Celebrity...Get me Out of Here!, the new show was introduced, featuring a humorous clip of Peter yelling at a man in a car while dragging a roll of carpet.

How to buy tickets for the show?

According to Heart Radio, the performance will begin in Manchester and continue in Birmingham, Liverpool, Belfast, Newcastle, Dublin, Glasgow, Cardiff, and Nottingham when tickets go on sale on Saturday. The tour will end on August 11 2023 at the Sheffield Utilita Arena.

According to Timeout, tickets are scheduled to go on sale on Saturday, November 12, at 10am. Prices will start at £35 (not including fees) and could rise to £135 for the Best Seat Package.

Reflecting on his comeback, Peter shared:

‘It’s good to get back to what I love doing best, stand-up comedy, and if there’s ever a time people need a laugh it’s now.'

‘And with the cost of living at an all-time high, ticket prices are starting from £35. The same price they were on my previous tour in 2010,’ Peter announced to his followers on the Manchester AO website.

Following the announcement, fans went crazy and shared their excitement on Twitter.

Why did Peter cancel his last tour?

Peter was expected to perform a nationwide show in 2017, however, he eventually postponed it owing to unanticipated family circumstances, reports RTE.

He issued a statement saying: ‘

Due to unforeseen family circumstances I deeply regret I am having to cancel all of my upcoming work projects. My sincerest apologies.’

He continued:

‘This decision has not been taken lightly and I’m sure you’ll understand my ­family must always come first.’

Since then, Peter has generally avoided the public eye, though he has recently begun to make his comeback.
