Hailer Bieber has made some clarifications about what happened between her, Justin Bieber, and Selena Gomez. Here's what you need to know.
Hailey Bieber is speaking up for the first time about how Justin Bieber ‘closed a chapter’ with Selena Gomez before their wedding.
Before he and Hailey became a power couple in Hollywood, Justin Bieber used to have a tumultuous, on-and-off romance with Selena Gomez that lasted for years. With several breakups and reconciliations, Jelena - as their fans dubbed it, was once one of the most exciting topics of celebrity gossip. However, Justin and the Wolves singer decided to go their separate ways in early 2018 - this time for good.
Hailey denied she 'stole' Justin from Selena
According to Cosmopolitan, on the Wednesday episode of Alexandra Cooper's Call Her Daddy podcast, the model detailed the timeline of her whirlwind engagement to the Baby singer that began in July 2018, which was soon after his quick reconciliation with Selena Gomez.
Hailey, who is 25 years old, continued to stress that she never ‘stole’ Justin from the 30-year-old Wizards of Waverly Place star. The Drop the Mic presenter reasoned that it is ‘not [her] character to interfere with someone's relationship.’
Elsewhere in the podcast, Hailey candidly shared that Justin had ‘closed a chapter’ with his notorious ex-girlfriend, Selena Gomez before he proposed to her.
She clarified:
‘I think it was the best thing that could have happened for him to move on and be engaged and get married and move on with his life in that way’.
Then for those wondering if she had any doubts about their relationship, Hailey added:
‘I know what was going on when we got back together and I know what had to happen for that to come back together in a healthy way.’
She complimented the 28-year-old for making a ‘mature, healthy decision’ that was ‘respectful to’ her.
‘I would never want to get into a relationship and get engaged and be married to them and think in the back of my mind, ‘I wonder if that was really, like, closed for you.'
Hailey continued: ‘I know for a fact that we were able to get back together because it was very much completely closed.’
The American model, who founded the Rhode skincare company, emphasized that she and Justin are ‘so far moved on from any type of drama’ with the Selena.
‘I don’t want to stir anything up or bring anything up.' she confessed. ‘[Fans] wish he ended up with someone else and that’s fine. You can wish for that all you want, but that’s just not the case.’
‘If we can move on, why can't you?’ Hailey inquired.
Hailey has shut down haters many times
This isn't the first time Hailey has had to address the beliefs and rumors of fans, namely Justin's. Since their marriage in 2018, Hailey has dealt with thousands of comments on her social media pages from his fans.
When the singer of the mega-hit Love Yourself and Selena first split up in December 2015, Hailey was first romantically linked with Justin. In 2016, the on-again, off-again pair broke up, and Justin started seeing Sofia Richie.
Justin was then observed riding a bike with Gomez in November 2017. He reconnected with Hailey in June 2018, after the reconciled Jelena decided to end their relationship in March of the same year.
Three months after their courthouse marriage, the couple tied the knot once more in South Carolina in September 2019 in front of loved ones.
In April, Hailey retaliated against individuals who were against her marriage by ordering them to ‘leave [her] alone.’
‘Enough time has gone by,’ she shared. ‘I’m minding my business. I don’t do anything, I don’t say anything’.
