But, recently, Justin Trudeau took to his social media to announce that he and Sophie have decided to part ways after almost 18 years of marriage. Justin Trudeau’s separation announcement

After spending close to two decades as a married couple, Justin Trudeau and Sophie Grégoire have decided to call it quits as a couple. The Prime Minister of Canada took to Instagram and announced their separation through a statement. He said the following in this official statement:

“Hi everyone, Sophie and I would like to share the fact that after many meaningful and difficult conversations, we have made the decision to separate. As always, we remain a close family with deep love and respect for each other and for everything we have built and will continue to build.”

This news came as quite a shocker to the world, particularly Canadian citizens, are it was out of the blue. But, it looks like a well-thought-out decision by the Prime Minister and his soon-to-be ex-wife.

Sophie and Justin’s relationship timeline

Sophie and Justin met when they were children, as Sophie went to school with Justin Trudeau’s younger brother Michel. And Sophie allegedly had a crush on Trudeau. But they lost touch when they grew up, and later reconnected when they were adults, in the year 2003. And soon, they went on their first date, which blossomed into a beautiful relationship. And soon in 2004, the couple got engaged, and married in 2005. The couple then dived head first into traditional family life, and they share three children together.

Over the years, things seem to have been going well for the couple, as they were seen to be in awe of each other. In fact, Trudeau has given credit to Sophie publicly many a time, saying that she had an integral role in shaping him to be a better father, leader, and feminist, as per People. Sophie’s illustrious career

While, as of today, Sophie Grégoire is seen in charity events and other political galas, her area of expertise is diverse. She was a star in the advertising field, where she worked her way up from a receptionist to an account manager. With marketing as her forte, she dabbled with mass media as a whole and went to radio and television school. She said the following in a conversation with Erica Diamond in 2011 about her career choice:

“I had always felt my communication skills were my best asset. The moment I stepped foot into school, I knew I was home. I felt most like myself. I had found my calling.”

She has also worked as a writer for news ticker items, an entertainment reporter, and a personal shopper. In addition to this, she has also worked as a correspondent for CTV’s eTalk, as per People. Sophie Grégoire is a soon-to-be-published author with two books on wellness in the pipeline, which should be coming out in the near future.
