With over 300 million records sold all over the world, Sir Elton John is one of the most successful musicians in the world. Starting his music endeavors in 1962, the artist has been consistently making music for the past six decades. Additionally, he became the first artist in the UK to have a hit single in each of those decades.
Considering the established success and wealth, where does Sir Elton live, and what is his property portfolio?
First home
Following the success of his seventh studio album, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, the artist bought the Windsor estate, Woodside, in 1980, reports HELLO! Magazine. The appearance of the house is traditional and the decor chosen by Sir Elton follows that same theme as well.
Speaking to Architectural Digest, Sir Elton said:
When I came out of rehab ten years ago, I realized that life is so much more beautiful than my house reflected. I wanted a normal life, a traditional country house, and Andrew Protheroe and Adrian Cooper-Grigg created that for me at Woodside.
A mansion alongside the stars
Holland Park is an area the majority of celebrities choose to have an abode in the UK, and Sir Elton is one amongst Simon Cowell and the Beckhams. Not much is known about the townhouse as the artist hasn't shared much about the property, but The Sun reports the Rocket Man artist frequently spends time in this property alongside his family since 1992.
Scenic properties in America
Sir Elton and Canadian filmmaker David Furnish had a civil partnership in 2005, and the couple officially married in 2014 after same-sex marriage was made legal in the UK, reports Smooth Radio. According to HELLO! Magazine, the couple bought their first home in 2012 which is a 5000-square-foot property.
The home features a scenic garden that overlooks the horizon in addition to a pool and cinema room. The couple are known for their appreciation of art, and this home is decorated to facilitate the addition of artworks that are placed all around the house.
Recently in 2021, Sir Elton and Furnish bought another home in the vicinity for £7.5 million. This home combines the compound of both their homes and features multiple swimming pools, five bedrooms, and four bathrooms.
Prior to owning these properties, Sir Elton purchased a condo in Atlanta and this is the first property that the artist has bought in the US.
A French retreat
In the 1990s, Sir Elton purchased a traditional-style 1920s Villa in Nice, France. HELLO! Magazine further reports that it was worth more than £15 million. This international abode features a luxurious pool with beautifully laid out gardens, and maintains the couple's collection of art as well.
Many celebrities have visited this property, including Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in 2019 when they were invited by the artist to spend a private holiday alongside their son Archie. According to Page Six, Sir Elton was one of the first to know about the couple's relationship.
A contemporary penthouse
The New York Post reports that Sir Elton recently purchased an apartment referred to as a 'treehouse' through the project King Toronto in Canada. The residences in the area are slated to be finished in 2023, but currently, there are only rendered images of what the properties would look like.
It is further reported that the apartment features three bedrooms and bathrooms, a scenic view of Toronto, and a private spa within a 2602-square-feet area. It is a two-floor apartment with the spa located on the second floor. Additionally, the amenities in the building include a large gym, a party room, and a swimming pool area.
