Prince Harry allegedly wants to reunite with the royal family, source claims

The Duke of Sussex snubbed the royal family Xmas party last year but reports claim he is planning for a reunion for the upcoming festive season.

Relations within the Royal Family have been frosty in recent years, exacerbated by the release of Omid Scobie's book Endgame. The Duke of Sussex, Prince Harry, is now reportedly seeking a family reunion during the Christmas holidays, particularly with his father, King Charles.

Prince William and King Charles' different views

Despite the desire for a reconciliation, The Mirror reveals that Prince William is adamant about not facing his brother until they've had a chance to resolve their differences. An insider shared with OK! magazine, 'It is proving an almost impossible task to get the brothers in the same place at the same time.'

On the other hand, King Charles appears more open to the idea, expressing a willingness to build a relationship with his younger grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. The source mentioned the possibility of a meeting on Boxing Day or over New Year’s, providing a friendly environment for them to 'talk things through.'

Unfortunately for Prince Harry, the chances of a family reunion seem slim at the moment. The source continued, 'Harry wants nothing more than to be able to spend time in the UK this Christmas. He’s got invites from friends to join them, and it’s where he feels at home.'

However, Meghan Markle, Harry's wife, holds a different perspective. She has no intention of returning to the UK, firmly set on building her life in California and focusing on her career. The source emphasized the contrasting desires within the couple, stating, 'I think Harry is the complete opposite – I think he has his heart set on bringing his family back to the UK.'

No chance of invitation to Harry and Meghan

Before the release of Endgame, there were hints that the Sussexes might consider an invitation to Sandringham for Christmas. However, recent reports suggest that such an invitation is unlikely due to lingering 'hostility' toward Prince Harry and Meghan.

A royal insider stated, 'There is 'no chance' of Harry, Meghan, and their children being invited to join the royal family because there is still so much 'hostility' toward them.' The source added that while King Charles would love to have the entire family together, he is 'nervous' about potential leaks and the complexities involved.

The fallout from Omid Scobie’s book, which included allegations of racist comments about Archie’s skin color, has added to the tension. A source close to Prince William and Princess Kate revealed that they would not want to be in the same room as Harry and Meghan, let alone spend Christmas with them.

While the Sussexes navigate their family dynamics, King Charles is set to lead the traditional royal Christmas celebrations at Sandringham. The family will attend church on Christmas morning, and the royals will exchange gifts on Christmas Eve, as per Town And Country. Queen Camilla’s children and grandchildren have been invited to join the festivities, breaking with tradition.

Royal family releases Xmas cards

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, like other royals globally, have shared their annual holiday card. The 2023 Christmas card showcases a picture of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex from the Invictus Games' closing night on a festive green background with small white polka dots.

The card, featuring a festive script font, conveys holiday wishes and gratitude on behalf of Prince Harry & Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Archewell Productions, and Archewell Foundations. Due to their absence from social media, the card was distributed via email. Similar to last year's card, the chosen photo is from a public event and excludes their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

Meanwhile, the Prince and Princess of Wales delighted royal enthusiasts with the release of their 2023 Christmas card last week. The selected card featured a captivating black-and-white family portrait taken in Windsor, skillfully captured by fashion and portrait photographer Josh Shinner. The family-of-five, dressed in matching crisp white shirts and casual trousers, beamed with joy as they posed for the camera.
