A rocky road

Sarah Ferguson, also known as 'Fergie,' is a British writer, charity patron, and former member of the royal family. She was married to Prince Andrew, the Duke of York, from 1986 to 1996.

Ferguson's relationship with the royal family has been rocky over the years. Her extravagant lifestyle, financial troubles, and association with questionable people have drawn criticism and scrutiny from the public and the media.

In 1992, a series of scandals rocked the royal family, including explicit pictures of Ferguson with a financial adviser, which led to her separation from Prince Andrew. Despite the separation, the couple has remained close, and there has been much speculation over the years that they may rekindle their relationship.

Ferguson has had a complicated relationship with the royal family as well, and her invitations to royal events have been sporadic. She was notably not invited to Prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding in 2011 but was invited to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's wedding in 2018.

Reason for not being invited

There has been much speculation from Royal fans and news publications as to why Ferguson, the former member of the royal family, would not be attending the historic coronation of King Charles III in May.

Speaking on Good Morning Britain, Ferguson acknowledged that as a divorced member of the royal family, she would not be able to attend a state occasion like the coronation. She added that 'it's a state occasion, and being divorced, I don't think you can have it both ways.'

Despite not being invited to the event, Ferguson praised King Charles and Queen Camilla for their efforts to unify the family and said that she would be celebrating the occasion in private. Ferguson also noted that she would be watching the coronation on television like many other people around the world.

A different role

Reports from The Mirror state that Ferguson has been granted a noteworthy role as a 'VIP attendee' at the King's Coronation concert, set to take place at Windsor Castle. The concert, which is scheduled for the day after the official Coronation ceremony, will feature members of the royal family, including Ferguson's daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie.

Despite not expecting an invitation to the official Coronation ceremony, a royal insider has confirmed that Ferguson is delighted to be able to join the extended family for the concert.

The Royal insider noted:

She cherishes those more relaxed times with the family and, contrary to some reports, is fully accepting of the situation.

They added:

She did, of course, join the family for the Sandringham Christmas celebrations, so it’s clear there is no ill will in either direction. Quite the contrary.
