The reality star welcomed son Tatum with cheating ex-boyfriend Tristan Thompson in July 2022, and she has made a huge decision regarding the baby's name.

Khloé Kardashian, one of the most prominent figures in the Kardashian-Jenner family, has just made a significant change in her family's life, and fans can't stop talking about it. This change involves none other than her 13-month-old son, and it's a delightful update that has taken everyone by surprise

Big change for baby's name

As per US Weekly, the reality star has officially changed the last name of her 13-month-old son, Tatum, who she shares with her ex-partner, Tristan Thompson. This legal alteration was granted by a Los Angeles county judge on August 31, as confirmed by documents obtained from US Weekly.

Back in June, the media initially broke the news that Tatum's birth certificate originally bore the last name Kardashian. However, as of now, the 13-month-old has undergone a significant change, officially adopting his father's surname, becoming Tatum Thompson.

In California, as in other states, parents have the authority to select their child's last name. They can opt for either the father's or mother's last name, or even choose a combination of both, often joined by a hyphen. It's essential to note that once this decision is made, it is legally binding, and changing it necessitates a court order.

Khloé's experience of a mother

Khloé Kardashian has been refreshingly open about her motherhood journey, particularly in relation to her son, Tatum. In a recent episode of The Kardashians, she bravely admitted to struggling with bonding with her son, who was born via surrogacy, as compared to the immediate connection she felt with her daughter, True, whom she carried herself.

She confessed, 'With True, it took me a couple of days to be like, okay, this is my daughter. With him, it’s taken me months. I love him and I love kids but, I still don’t have that complete bond.'

Kardashian added that she sometimes felt guilty that she hadn’t bonded with her son in the same way as her daughter.

'I’m like, why isn’t it the same? But I know it will be and I know, like, I don’t treat him differently. I just question myself sometimes.'

Amidst her candid revelations about motherhood, Khloé acknowledged her tendency to be overly critical of herself. She honestly stated, 'I wish I wasn’t so critical of myself because I’m very kind to everyone else. I’m just not very kind to myself.'

In the summer of 2022, Khloé Kardashian and Tristan Thompson celebrated the arrival of their second child, Tatum, born through a surrogate. The couple also shares a five-year-old daughter named True. Tatum's birth came amidst the backdrop of their on-and-off relationship, which had its share of challenges, including Thompson confirming he fathered a child with fitness instructor Maralee Nichols. Video footage of Tristan kissing other women surfaced when Khloé was pregnant with their first child, True, leading to a significant scandal. Speaking of the scandal, the mum of two said in tears:

'It’s just an additional slap in my face. It’s humiliating, I’m embarrassed. I am replaying every event, every grand gesture, every trip, every date. All of that was a lie. How were you able to not saying something?'

Despite his infidelity, Khloé disclosed that Tristan Thompson temporarily moved into her residence due to unforeseen issues with his own living arrangements. This decision came after Tristan's younger brother, Amari, joined them following the tragic passing of their mother earlier this year.
