Tragedy strikes Holly Willoughby yet again when a man plotted to kidnap and murder the This Morning star.

Holly Willoughby is one of those presenters who is generally well-loved by the public. Her show This Morning has seen immense success, with people always rooting for the host to come back anytime there is a rumor of her leaving the show.

From facing the storms of the Phillip Schofield scandal to tragic personal life issues that made her take a break from her show, the star has risen from the ashes, much to the delight of her fans. But, despite having thousands of fans rooting for her, Holly was recently faced with yet another hurdle involving a man who was scheming to cause physical harm to her. Holly Willoughby is allegedly under distress due to this absolutely horrific plan chalked out by a Harlow resident. Here’s all the scoop on this man who was plotting against Holly Willoughby amidst all the love she has been receiving.

The alleged kidnapping plan

Kidnapping isn’t as common today as it was before, but it truly still exists. It causes a huge alarm, especially when a public figure is involved. Recently, a man was accused of plotting against Holly Willoughby in an attempt to allegedly kidnap and murder her. The suspect is a 36-year-old man, who is from Potters Field in Harlow. His name is Gavin Plumb and this news shocked the ITV producers, as they were tipped off about this scheme. The police were soon involved, and the accused was arrested before anything tragic happened to Willoughby. Here’s what went down.

The petrifying plan

Gavin Plumb had allegedly been conspiring with someone to travel to the UK, to commit the crime of kidnapping, and murdering Holly Willoughby. As per Sky News, the suspect appeared at Chelmsford Magistrates Court on Friday and was remanded in custody. He was arrested as of 4th October, after the bosses of This Morning were alerted shortly before Holly was supposed to go on air last Thursday. Holly was pulled from the episode, given the threat to her life. Alison Hammond instead headlined the show as a last minute substitute for Holly, thus making fans wonder where Holly was.

A spokesperson for ITV said the following about this unfortunate incident.

"This news has come as a huge shock to everyone at This Morning and ITV. We are providing all of the support we can to Holly and her family at this incredibly distressing time.”

The aftermath that followed

ITV went on to provide round-the-clock security for Holly given the gravity of the situation. Dermot O’Leary said the following on This Morning about the present state of the investigation.

"We are not going to talk too much about it but Holly is on the front pages after police arrested a 36-year-old man over an alleged kidnap plot. He has now been charged by Essex Police."

Holly’s indefinite leave of absence

Following this incident, Holly Willoughby has taken an indefinite leave from This Morning, given that her life could be in danger. Returning back to the show is the last thing on Holly’s mind as per The Independent. The TV presenter is said to be shocked and in distraught after hearing about this news. As per Detective Superintendent Rob Kirby, this is the status of the case.

“This was an extremely fast-paced investigation, with many of our officers and national partners working overnight to secure these charges. The safeguarding of any victim is paramount and we will continue to prioritise this and working with the Metropolitan Police Service as the investigation proceeds."

As per a source, the following is what was said about Holly Willloughby’s return to the show.

“There has been no discussion about when, or if, she will return to the This Morning sofa,”
