Taylor Swift accused of 'snubbing' Canada in latest tour, Justin Trudeau makes a plea

Taylor Swift's big summer tour (Eras Tour) does not include a concert in Canada. Here's the possible reason why Swift ignored the Great White North.

Taylor Swift fans, or ‘Swifties’ as they are known across the globe, are rejoicing right now. And the reason is that Taylor is currently doing the biggest stadium tour she has done to date. And Tay-Tay is leaving no area untouched as she spreads the joy of her music to different parts of the world. Well, with the exception of one crucial country.

While the world is vibing to her music, one stadium after another, Taylor seems to have skipped the Great White North, AKA Canada, to her list of concerts. This has resulted in some huge bureaucrats pleading with the Enchanted singer about giving Canada a chance. And here’s what is happening.

Taylor Swift’s big tour

This tour is unlike anything Taylor Swift has done before. The 3-hour, 40-song set covers all the vital eras of her singing career. This includes the 4 new albums and 2 new re-releases that she has made in the past four years. And the USA, Mexico, and Europe are getting a taste of Taylor’s soulful music, over this summer.

The tour known as the Eras Tour started in March, with the Karma singer doing over 100 concerts over the course of the summer. And looks like the singer is giving Canada a ‘Cruel Summer’ given that Canada was completely overlooked and omitted from her list of concerts. But, Taylor Swift will never be an ‘Anti-Hero’ in Canada, even though her Canadian fans are extremely disappointed in being overlooked by Taylor. This has led to one of the most important men in Canada speaking out about being ignored by Swift. Here’s what it is.

Justin Trudeau’s big plea

It is no joke that every other person you see is likely to be a Swiftie. And looks like the beloved Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, is enchanted by Taylor’s Style, much like the rest of the world. And he was pleading with Taylor not to ignore Canada. Here’s how it went.

Taylor announced an addition of 14 shows next year across Europe and UK, and Justin Trudeau personally took to Taylor’s Twitter to ask her to reconsider Canada. Referencing Taylor’s famous song ‘Anti-Hero’, he said:

"It's me, hi. I know places in Canada would love to have you. So, don't make it another cruel summer. We hope to see you soon."

This Tweet went viral, as no one expected Mr. Trudeau to be so well-versed with Taylor Swift puns. But, pun or not, the truth that remains is that Canada is excitedly looking forward to having Taylor. And the Canadian Prime Minister is manifesting it on behalf of the country. Here’s why everyone is speculating about why Taylor skipped Canada altogether.

The possible reason for skipping Canada

Since Taylor doesn’t seem to have any particular ‘Bad Blood’ towards Canada, her Canadian fans are still stumped as to where she isn’t gracing the Great White North with her presence.

As per BBC, it is speculated that it might have something to do with the size of the venue. Canada's biggest arena, the Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton, Alberta, seats just over 56,300 fans, a fraction of the capacity at venues like Wembley in London - 90,000 - or MetLife in New Jersey - 82,500.

But, this doesn’t seem a plausible reason as well, especially given the fact that Swift is playing at two venues (Dublin and Vienna) that seat about 50,000 people. Another theory as to why Canada is being avoided by Swift is because of the current value of Canadian dollars. The Canadian dollar is currently weak compared to the US dollar. But, whatever the reason is, Canadians are hoping that Swift will shake it off, and perform in Canada soon.
