As football fans already know, David Beckham and Victoria Beckham are one of those power couples who have time and again shown the world what true love is all about. From getting married way back in 1999 to staying strong together as of 2023, the couple and their children lead a great family life.

But, Beckham being the football legend he is, and one of the most sought-after players in the 2000s, really shaped his family dynamics. And recently, David Beckham opened up about how his decision to join a certain football club made his wife Victoria burst into tears. Here’s what it is.

David Beckham’s football history

To give a little background and context, David Beckham has enjoyed a fruitful career in football and is even deemed as of the best English players in the history of football. His career began way back in 1992 when he joined Manchester United when he was merely 17 years of age. And ever since, he has built a beautiful career, given his immense talent.

And from there it was all upwards. He brought the club a lot of pride and accolade when he won multiple Premier League and FA Cup titles while playing for United. Besides that, he enjoyed a captaincy for over 6 years, till he joined Real Madrid in 2003, and moved to Spain with his family. And from there he had his stint with LA Galaxy and AC Milan. And after that, in 2013, his buzzing football career came to a standstill. And that is when a certain club came knocking at the Beckhams’ door, which made Victoria cry.

Victoria’s reaction to Beckham’s new transfer

PSG was interested in buying Beckham at the time. And as per David Beckham’s own narration at a friend’s charity, here’s how the story went, as recorded by The Sun:

“It was the first time Victoria could choose where we moved to because before that the family had to move with me. So she decided to move back to London, where her business is. On the way back to London my phone rang and it was the PSG president. When I had to explain to Victoria she burst into tears because she’d obviously felt that, after all of this time, she had me back.”

David Beckham was all in awe of his wife and her continuous commitment to her career and their family. He also said:

“But she knew I’d been offered an opportunity to win another trophy. She’s an incredible woman. I don’t think I’ve met anyone that works as hard as her. She is committed to not just our family but her business as well, and she’s having so much success that has come through hard work over the years.”

What is David Beckham doing now?

David Beckham retired in style in 2013 and has never looked back since. But, despite not playing the sport, he is very much involved in the world of football. He is the current president and co-owner of Inter Miami CF. Beckham is also the co-owner of Salford City, both of which are booming football clubs.

He is also somewhat of a fashion icon, frequently featuring on various big magazine covers and working alongside some huge labels. From investing in vehicle electrifications companies to launching his own line of fragrances, David Beckham’s investment portfolio is as diverse as the hairstyles he has donned.

But, besides making, he gives a lot back to society through his philanthropic activities. From being UNICEF’S brand ambassador for years, and working for several AIDS foundations and charities, to supporting soldiers injured in Iraq, he is and has been involved in a wide variety of charities over the years.
