From flaunting her no makeup look, to showing her fans her grays, Salma Hayek is breaking all beauty stereotypes, and it is amazing to see how she does it.

As women (and men) age, it is becoming a trend to hide and cover up all signs of aging. People often conceal signs such as loose skin, wrinkles, and, through invasive and non-invasive methods. With cosmetology as a sector that is growing, today’s world sees lesser people embracing their age.

But while this trend of covering up all signs of aging was super popular before, lately people (both celebrities and otherwise) are talking about aging gracefully. And this includes accepting and even flaunting their skin textures and grays. And recently, the ravishing Salma Hayek did the same, giving her fans the confidence to love themselves the way they are. This is what she said.

Salma Hayek flaunts her grays

Salma Hayek never shies away from posting her reality on social media. From her bikini snaps to her bare makeup-less face, she is as real as real can be on social media. Now, in a rare act, she has revealed and even celebrated her gray hair, and people are in awe of how relatable she is. She posted an image of herself on Instagram recently, and she gave it the following caption:

“Here is a tip to cover your white hair without dyeing it ……… don’t wear your glasses on your hair!!! Bring on the wisdom.”

Reactions to Salma's post

Salma’s Instagram community is in splits about what she had to say about the inevitable graying. Being a touchy subject for most celebrities, famous people almost never talk about graying, let alone flaunt their gray hair. People are all in full support of Salma’s decision to show off her grays, with comments calling her beautiful, classy, and gorgeous. There are also a ton of comments reminding her that she has aged gracefully without really looking old and complimenting her on her natural look.

She also received comments such as the following on her post:

“So grey is really sexy”
“Excuse me, my Queen, but those platinum glitter strands you detest are proof positive of your divine wisdom. Carry on, gorgeousness!”

Why is it essential to flaunt grays?

Every day, it is possible to see a new celebrity who does not want to cover up their natural aging process with chemicals and treatments. While gray hair has been more or less normalized for male celebrities, women are slowly breaking away from the stereotypes and high beauty standards set for them. This really makes one wonder why should boys have all the fun.

It is no surprise that George Clooney’s salt-and-pepper look has been celebrated over and over again. But, when women first did it, it didn’t really sit well with people. But nevertheless, so many famous influential women have shown the world that graying does not equal to lack of beauty, and it is the change that the world need.

Celebrities who embrace their grays

Andie MacDowell, the rom-com queen herself, has embraced her salt-and-pepper look, and said the following about it, as per Glamour:

“My managers had actually said to me, ‘It’s not time [to go gray]. And I said, ‘I think you’re wrong, and I’m going to be more powerful if I embrace where I am right now.”

Jane Fonda is yet another big name that embraced her strands of silver at the right time. Stars such as Diane Keaton, the all-time fashionista Sarah Jessica Parker, Whoopi Goldberg, Meryl Streep, and Jamie Lee Curtis are all advocates of embracing their grays.

Even famous men such as Steve Martin, Morgan Freeman, and the beloved Keanu Reeves all sport their grays, without any inhibitions. This sets a great tone for the generations to come, as self-love and embracing oneself are something that people are consciously moving towards.
