The Spice Girls, a legendary British girl band, have left an indelible mark on the music industry with their infectious pop hits and empowering messages. Despite their initial split in 2000, the Spice Girls have periodically reunited for special performances, leaving fans eagerly anticipating their next comeback.

Melanie C, also known as Sporty Spice, recently took to the stage on Saturday night on the Avalon Stage and hinted at the Spice Girls' interest in playing at the legendary music festival. She expressed that 'all of the Spice Girls would like to play Glasto,' indicating the group's collective desire to reunite for this prestigious event. Speaking to BBC Radio 6 Music’s Matt Everitt, she said:

‘All of the Spice Girls would like to play Glasto, that is the truth. Like I said to the audience [on Saturday night], doing a couple of Spice Girls songs, 'A bit of a warm-up for next year?' They’re rehearsed, they know the words, they’re ready.'

Mel C shared her excitement about the prospect of performing at Glastonbury, describing it as the ultimate achievement for an artist. However, she also acknowledged the apprehension due to the fact that some of the girls haven't been on stage for years:

'And it's quite daunting, some of the girls haven't been up on stage for years. But I think it’s, we call it [playing Glastonbury] the bucket list, because as an artist it really is the ultimate.'

Victoria Beckham set to come back

Since the 2012 Olympics closing ceremony, Victoria Beckham, also known as Posh Spice, has not performed with the Spice Girls. As per Metro, Mel B, Mel C, Beckham, Emma Bunton and Geri Horner all reunited in 2007 for a string of shows: The Return of the Spice Girls Tour. It ran for 45 shows from December 2007 to February 2008, including a 17-night sellout run at the O2 arena.

However, during the band's 2019 tour, Victoria Beckham did not participate or make an appearance.

While there have been talks of a reunion, Beckham has been hesitant to join. In the past, she ruled out participating in a Glastonbury performance, stating that she enjoys singing Spice Girls songs for karaoke but feels she should leave it there. However, Mel B, another member of the group, has recently teased that there may be a statement regarding Victoria Beckham's return in the near future.

If the Spice Girls were to secure a slot at Glastonbury, they would follow in the footsteps of music legends like Dolly Parton, Kylie Minogue, and Yusuf/Cat Stevens. The festival's 'legends slot' has become renowned for hosting iconic acts, making it an ideal opportunity for the Spice Girls to make their mark once again.
